Maybe Pock didn't think he was mishandled...

Oh I hope you are right, removing Malik from this line-up initself would be a huge example of addidtiion by subtraction. I think Rachunek is going to be shown the door, as well. Could this really be the first off-season in recent memory when the NYR don't target any UFA's to sign other than their own?

I'd imagine it's around $1M since his entry level deal was the rookie max IIRC.

Wow, I'll eat my crow happily. I thought there was no way in hell Pock resigned with us after this season.

Either he likes the money, loves the city, is loyal since we took a chance on him (he was undrafted), or a combination of all three.

In any case, I'm glad we are keeping him. Thanks for staying, Tommy!

It's Renney's fault.

NYR defense has been playing extremely well since the all star break...why are we all assuming that there will be new faces added? IMO, if Staal doesn't make a big impression, he'll be in HFD to start the season.

Anyone think they may try to move Mara? He has one year left, iirc, and has increased his value considerably since he was dealt here.

Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if they kept the same seven D from this year, but if they do move someone, I would imagine it would be from the Rachunek-Malik-Mara contingent.

I am thrilled he is coming back. He is starting to play some of his best hockey lately. While I dont know if he will ever be a really good defencemen, he is a great guy to have on the team, in case of injury, or someone playing poor.

The D is still one area that could use upgrading. Yes, they have played well. But Lundqvist's play has also hidden some flaws. While team is playing good defensively, the overall quality of our D still needs improvement. We have too many 4/5/6/7 guys, and not enough 1/2/3 guys. I'm not saying we even need to have a 1, since they are hard to come by and $$$. But it wouldn't hurt to have a couple more 2/3 guys to fill the top slots. The question is do we go out and get one of those guys in the offseason, or wait for guys like Staal to get here?

I agree with you, and that it what really frightens me about this upcoming series against the Thrashers. Marcel Hossa is scary good, and then throw in Kovulchuk, Kozlov, and Thatcuk. Malik and Rozival are going to have their hands full for a whole series.

Don't bring me pretty, bring me effective

Since Christmas, the Rangers have the best defensive record in the NHL. These guys aren't all chopped liver. As for Malik, he is awkward and gangly but again this year he has been one of the highest plus players in the league. He is almost every year. The Rangers seem to play much better when he is in the lineup.

Good news to hear he came back, now lets get rid of Rachunek and Malik and let guys like Staal and Baraka get a shot for that last spot we have. Addition by subtraction, Im with you guys.

PLD. Just goes to show you only look at stats, but not the ones that count. If you actually saw McCabe on a nightly basis, you'd know why most Leafs fans want to get rid of him. He is not a defenseman in the least, he is a one dimensional offensive player with a big shot that plays from the points and from the defense. He couldn't defend Malik if he came at him for a game winning goal.

You know what guys...I have a feeling Rachunek might not be inserted in the line-up even when he is ready. I think Pock has gained Renney's trust and the teams has been playing well with this line-up. Why change something that's working?

here are some quotes from article:

Quote:
For the first time in history may be able to be stood with Thomas Vanek and Thomas Poeck of two Austrians a traditional Playoff beard.
Quote:
While Vanek with the Buffalo Sabres was allowed to plan already longer for the K.O. plays toward Stanley Cup, Poeck fought and its to Rangers quasi up to the last second for the participation in the Playoffs.
Quote:
Poeck remains a Blueshirt Poeck to its sporty future: "I remain in New York and for two further years with the Rangers signed." The long-term future looks promising therefore, what the short term (Playoff)Zukunft brings remains being waiting.

Quote:
Poeck (laughs): There there is no special "hair-style". It is again abrasiert and then to wait we off. I have seen, as for instance partly in Austria the people now ran around, but that is not anything for me. Is my slogan is not noticeable and if only by achievement and not by the beard.
