Tim Verbeek is the younger brother of the NHL’s notorious "Lil' Ball of Hate" Pat Verbeek.
Mike Lalonde is one of only a few Native American players in the ECHL. Saulteaux First Nation.
Brock Radunske and Lalonde were teammates at Michigan State University from 2001-04.
Colin Pepperall retired after last season to become a firefighter, but after a call from Thunder bench boss Chris Cichocki decided to fight for the Kelly Cup one last time.
Mathieu Melanson is the son of Roland "Rollie" Melanson, former NHL goalie and current Canadiens goaltending coach. Melanson, alongside Predator Alexander Radulov, led the Quebec Remparts to the Memorial Cup in ’06.
Coach Cichocki still holds the Detroit Red Wings record for most goals by a rookie in his debut with two.

Coach Cichocki has been calling about Troy Bodie - and maybe Tyler Spurgeon - asking the Oilers brass if they might be sending those two down to the E, after a few more NHL->AHL moves are made

I agree, they built a pretty nice arena out there in Stockton, right on the Delta and next to the Stockton Ports (Oakland A's 'A' affiliate) brand new ballpark.

I drove by it a few days ago on my way back to San Diego and I was stunned by the architecture of the facility. Stockton has four pro teams playing there. I didn't even know it was there.
"I was expecting to come back, and I'm looking forward to it," Bodie said. "I've seen that things have been going well, and I'm proud of the team. Hopefully, I won't put a damper on things."
Bodie, an Oilers prospect, spent the final 20 games of the regular season with the Hamilton (Alberta) Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. The 22-year-old, 6-foot-4 forward started the season with the Thunder and had 38 points (21 goals, 17 assists) in 46 games, and is still second on the team in goals scored...

Cichocki said the status of forwards Mike Lalonde (thumb) and Brock Radunske (ankle) and defenseman Beau Geisler (back) would be "game-time decisions." Geisler has missed the last seven games, Radunske didn't play in the final two, and Lalonde sat out the season finale in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Pepperall and Radunske joined other former Greenville members Cam Ellsworth, Tim Sestito and Brian Lee, and even equipment manager Mark Burgess, in Stockton. Cichocki has jokingly referred to his team as "Grrrowl West."
"That's what we've become," Cichocki said. "It really wasn't on purpose. It just worked this way, and I'm glad they are all here."
Ellsworth, a goaltender, has been with the Thunder all season, as has Sestito. Lee arrived via a trade in early March.
And the reunion between Radunske and Pepperall gave Stockton the offensive boost it needed in the final month.
The two players enjoyed great success with the Grrrowl last season, combining for 116 points. They are a good match - Pepperall is the feisty veteran center who won an ECHL title with Greenville in 2002, and Radunske is a speedy, young forward and an Edmonton Oilers prospect
Both teams boast strong goaltending, but the Thunder has more depth.. The Thunder has Devan Dubnyk, the Edmonton Oilers' No. 1 draft pick in 2004, and proven veteran Cam Ellsworth. The 6-foot-5 Dubnyk has had the majority of starts and will likely continue to do so, but the Thunder is very comfortable with Ellsworth. The Thunder goalies have combined for three shutouts, or two less than Steelheads net minder Steve Silverthorn, whose five is tied for second in the league. He played in 59 games, so expect to see him a lot in this series. John Daigneau is the backup.

Though there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of interest here, I wanted to let you all know your boys did really well
They pulled off a dramatic come from behind win on the road in Game 1. Sestito registered the game-winning goal by posting a shorty with just 4 minutes left in the game. Then Reddox was able to connect with the empty net to secure a 4-2 victory. They now hold a 1-0 series lead and play again in less than 20hrs.
Sestito was awarded the No.1 star. Dubnyk turned aside 26 shots. Bodie had an assist and was a +1. Reddox a +1 with the EN. Goulet a -1. Radunske was placed on the IR & won't be available till game 4.
(the team was also without all-star Beau Geisler and '06 all-star Lalonde)
It'll go in the books as the first playoff game/win for the Stockton Thunder.
Nice start! Crappy news about Radunske though, hopefully the return of Bodie can help out offensively while he is out. I take it Dubnyk is going to start every game in the playoffs?
