"It’s a common nickname if your name is Hampus. I don’t really have a nickname in the States."

I guess nobody has referred to him as "Magnus" in person yet.

I go to the beach. We have a couple nice spots here where you can jump from cliffs.

That combined with his statement on Volvos that don't break when you put them in water makes for some troubling visions...

He had a great rookie season but I wouldn't be suprised to a see a bit of a sophmore slump. People will be targeting him much more this year especially physically.

I don`t get this ''this year'' thing. Also when someone says ''other teams will know him much better this season''.

Teams scout other teams during the season too, not only in offseason. There is a risk of course but it`s the same as in last season and playoffs

What, did they not try to target him last year?

Recent interview (use google translate):

He says he`s working on a more quicker shot. That is very pleasing to hear.

Im pretty high on magnus. I think he is our most solid prospect since getz/pers.

If he had a freakish shot, and played for Toronto, he would have Norris votes after last season.

I do not see a sophslump coming from him. Many sophslumps occur because of sample size.

Lots of rookies get chances throughout a season. Some dont put up points. Some do. The ones that do, stay. A good few weeks after a call up in a rookie season throw stats off. Amd with the large number of callups... theres going to be people who overproduce for what they are currently "capable" of maintaining. And people take that 18 goals in 50 games and say "I expect 28 goals if we give him a full season!!!". Then the guy puts up only 17 goals in 80 games and people say "slump!!!" Maybe its just a data thing? Maybe is wearing down after an 82 game grind?

That rambling aside.. the biggest hurdle for a kid like Magnus is not... can he keep scoring at that pace... its ..."Yeah... but will he wear down after a full 82 game season?"

He proved he can endure last year. And endurance with that kid will only get better as he learns more how to train and moderate his expenditures. And his scoring and production will only improve.

I have fewer worries that he will have a sophomore slump than other players. He seems to be very motivated and dedicated on becoming a better player.

OTOH, it is unrealistic to expect him to have a better +/- (for what that's worth) than last year. He will also likely be matched against better opponents this year.

If Beauch progresses this season (after that injury a year ago) it could boost Hampus game too.

You don't enjoy seeing Cam hit opposing shin pads 99% of the time? Can we add Vats to this as well, dude has a great shot but he sure hasn't figured out the NHL timing yet, comes off looking like a slow release.

They all need to watch game tape on Lubo Vish, or even Robidas last season, those guys knew how to get the puck on net in a hurry.

We should make Souray earn his money and teach all of them how to shoot from the point.

i disagree with this. to me Lindholm's play clearly dropped off in the 2nd half of the season compared to the 1st half. He wasn't terrible, but he definitely wasn't as good as he was.

Agreed.

It's actually one of the reasons why I think Hamp will not suffer from the sophmore slump and is going to have a great season. I think we already saw his slump, which was in the second half, because of the long grind that he wasn't used to and even when slumping, he still looked like a top-4 defender.

I think by the end of this season, we're going to be talking about Hampus as our best defender.

Yup yup yup! Two seasons ago, in the AHL, he played about 44 games. Three years ago across the pond, Hampus played 20 games for the Men's Rogle club. so the jump to 78 games is pretty huge. Then tack on the playoffs, and his season has been longer than ever before.

So this off-season is important for Lindholm, mentally and physically. His body is a year older and hopefully can endure the whole season plus.

Lindholm looks amazing

Okay, it's only been two games, but he looks incredible out there. The rest of the defence Crew have played less than stellar though.

Should he get more minutes than he's getting?

Not yet. No.

I wouldn't even say this has been Lindholm at his best either.

Lindholm has had his struggles as well as every defenceman. Beauch and Lindholm has been the pairing so far though.

I think there isn't a single player in this team's line-up who looks amazing as of yet. Kesler and Maroon maybe. Getzlaf and Perry are still warming up, but they are getting there.

I think he looks okay. I'm not gonna go with sophomore slump just yet. I just think he needs to get his skating back on par with last year's speed. His positioning is still right but sometimes he's getting beaten wide by fast players. He's recovering from getting beaten but it looks like a bit of a struggle. I mean as long as he's doing things right, which he is, I don't have an issue with him. He's harder to knock of the puck now too. So that's good.
