Boston wins the cup if...

- Eriksson has an injury free year and fits in with Krejci & Lucic
- Smith and Söderberg keep up their play from last year
- Krejci and Marchand show up in the playoffs this time
- Chara, Hamilton, Seidenberg and Boychuk don't suffer from injuries... Don't want Bartkowski/Krug/Miller/McQuaid in the top-4 in the playoffs

Price plays out of his mind, Eller has a breakout season, Subban and Pacioretty get hot in the playoffs.

- Bishop stays healthy and doesn't regress.

- Stamkos stays healthy.

- Drouin isn't a bust.

- The new additions to the team find chemistry.

Refs give us powerplays so we score goals on 5v4

Pretty much this. Boston could win without those happening but if they do then they look good.

I'll add
- don't get frustrated if the play Montreal

If there are any more crazy playoff records to break? Up 3-0 in all 4 series, 3 Game 7 wins on the road, etc.

But seriously, if the Kings just keep doing what they're doing, they have as good of a chance to win it as anyone, which is still weird to say as a Kings fan.

Stay healthy

Actually not that much. Winger is easily the hardest part. Then with Kunitz, Hornqvist, and X winger Sid and Geno can't possibly disappear. Goalies would be interesting.
Obviously. But since Nashville was only 3 points out of the playoffs last season, even with Rinne out, these are the top 3 needs.

We have 82 games against just the Leafs, Islanders, and Panthers.

Then playoffs with Devils, Canadiens, Capitals, and San Jose.

1)Bob is Vezina Bob, and not shaky playoffs Bob.
2)Johansen continues to blossom into a dominant 1C
3) Our young guys (Jenner, Murray, Atkinson) take the next step
4) Hartnell becomes the missing piece that finally lets us beat the pens.

All homerism aside, I have VERY high hopes for next year and think it won't take all that much to at least contend for the cup.

Hawks win the Cup if they:

A. Find takers for Versteeg and Rozsival for late draft picks

B. Resign Brookbank.

C. Get instant impact from Teravainen

D. Get Morin to take his game to the next level and use his dangerous shot to get more minutes playing in the top 6, putting up 20-25 goals and maybe 45 pts.

E. Get Richards to develop chemistry playing with Kane and Saad.

If that happens, you could imagine something like this come playoff time:

Bickell - Toews - Morin
Saad - Richards - Kane
Sharp - Teravainen - Hossa
Shaw - Kruger - Smith

Keith - Seabrook
Oduya - Hjalmarsson
Leddy - Brookbank

Crawford

I doubt all 5 of those things take place(especially C), but that would be the ultimate "hitting the jackpot" situation, and a damn near impossible team to beat. Thats like 3 top lines and 1 3rd line(that could arguably be a 2nd line for some bad teams).

Well realistically the Leafs should be just focused on getting into the playoffs and going from there.

Nashville the forgotten Central team, every expects them to be fighting with Winnipeg for last in the division when in reality they were super close to making it into the playoffs without their elite goalie for a good portion of the year. I guess the main concern now is how will they perform under a different system.

If the cup hangover is avoided and everyone shows up rested, healed, and hungry.

Gaborik doesn't die.

Quick plays a fully healthy season while Jones gets his games in.

If you would have told the league 5 years ago that Gaborik, Kopitar, Richards, Carter, Brown, and Williams would be on one team with a Conn Smythe winning Vezina nominee goaltender setting sv % records and a norris nominee top pairing team canada dman, they would be shaking. If those guys all play remotely like they did in their primes, we'll be smiling.

If the youth takes a big step forward as the older guys plateau and start fading--Toffoli, Pearson especially have to continue to grow because they're not surprising anyone and the D is younger than most people realize--Muzzin, Voynov, Martinez (getting older), and now McNabb are going to be continuing to eat a lot of minutes (even Doughty is still a youth).

If a prospect plays well enough to force someone else off the team.

Even good teams need a whole hell of a lot to go right to win.

Penguins: If the team can gel together and actually play full 60 minutes.

Oilers: If hedgehogs fly.

For the Kings…if we had the refs help us to another cup again.

…in all seriousness, we're probably gunna need a repeat of last season's playoffs. The West only got better... and I'd say a repeat of last year isn't probable, but every time I have the slightest bit of doubt, the Kings prove me wrong.

for the leafs

- Well, actually making the playoffs first would help
-We can't be outshot
-bernier will have to play like hasek against the western team
-The d magically knows how to play d
-Have a NYR route to the cup final (easier opponents)
-Better center
-Phaneuf gets help
-kadri has a season like the shortend one
-The 4th line plays
-Carlyle let's gardiner actually be a offensive d-man

this is sad...

For the Sens:
-Eugene Melnyk gets his Casino and then spends to the cap
-Pittsburgh trades us Malkin and Crosby for Phillips and a 7th (Both with retained salary)
-Chicago send us Keith and Seabrook for Greening, Condra and a 6th (Again, retained salary)
-Robin Lehner pulls a Jim Carey
-Erik Karlsson becomes the first player to ever hit 300 points.

For the Flames:

-WWIII occurs and every other team's players are sent to fight for their countries
-California separates from the US and becomes its own country and own hockey league

then we might have a chance.

Sedins regain Art Ross form

Burrows regains 30g form

Benino continues his development and becomes a 60pt 2C

Kassian becomes a 25g playmaking power forward lunatic

Horvat makes the team as a excellent 3C capable of shutdown duties

Edler finally realizes his full potential

Ryan Miller has a Vezina calibre season/playoffs

Wild need a starting goalie that stays healthy, Vanek to score30+ goals, and Dumba to be a surprise starter on D due to improved play. If that happens, I like our chances.
