You guys have not seen corruption until you've lived in Serbia (or any former Yugo republics) and tried starting a business there. Redford was corrupt but this is small potatoes. I could write a book....

To my surprise, he tells me he's a rapper, I had no idea. I guess he started when he was about 13.

So he asks me if I want to listen to one of his raps, and I say sure. But I don't want you to do a tune you've already written. I want you to give me an improvised free style about your impressions of my back yard...look...there's a BBQ, a patio set, roses, raspberry bushes fire pit, tomato plants, shed etc. You have lots to work with.

He was really reluctant to do a freestyle off the hop, but me and his Dad goaded him into it after 15 minutes. (Being a fairly seasoned vet of the music scene and improve, I wanted to see, really, how good he could do).

To make a long story short, the dude blew me away with some of the beats and words he free styled with, incorporating pretty much everything in my back yard into a very well honed rappers tale, with some really killer inflections on rhythms and patterns and basically telling a heart felt tale.

Does anyone here know of some open rap venues that he could get involved with? This kid is deep and talented indeed.
Now you have to post a video.

I finally got approved for long term disability while I wait for shoulder surgery.

I've been so stressed during this, so something finally going right feels good.

Is anyone else getting sick and tired of these Indy sounding tunes on commercials?

It's not doing a service to Indy bands out there.

I'm not the only one....am I?

A friend of mine from high school is heavily involved with this type of scene in Calgary. Send me a PM and I can pass along whatever info I have...

Also to the Ontario based unskilled labourer looking for Fly In/Fly Out...

Good luck. Even with a 3rd or 2cnd class Power Engineering ticket you're competing against dozens of other candidates for paid commuting.

Earthquake in Alberta? Did the USA misplace HAARP, their earthquake machine?

There is some iirc. There was an incident back in 2010 that didn't result in any liquid spillage but I am not sure much actually goes on there.

There is a bit of shale activity around the drayton-rocky area, but your bigger areas of activity are fox creek and Dawson creek.

Being at the edge of the Rockies, there is some seismic movement there. When we log wells out there, we have to use redundant tools that require contact with the well bore on the X and Y axis because the wellbore can deform in the time it takes to drill it due to seismic forces.

Edit: Almost any formation in the foothills area will require a frac to be economical, so it is not something exclusive to shale gas/oil exploitation. In fact, there has been fracing in the drayton area since the 1950s

Also, on that note. I was up by Fort Nelson a few years back on a shale gas project, and in the middle of the night, our 500 man camp was woken up by a quake. Not saying it was due to the activity there, but a volume of water 30km x 30km x 1m pumped into the ground that year will probably do something.

The amount of uninformed public (on certain news forums) who blame the fraccing on the earthquake is disturbing. It's amazing the amount of baloney fear mongering people fall for these days. And of course you can't tell them they're wrong no matter how much evidence you have contrary. People don't like to be told what they think they know is not correct.

No offence but you kinda sound like those very people you're patronizing. Everything is not so black and white as one is lead to believe (by those in the O&G industry).
