How good are Tino Siren and Markus Nurmi? Weren't they highly touted?

Only heard of Felixson and Vesalainen. Also Anton Straka is not you're typical Finnish name, whats the story there? Czech last name.

It sure does. Kotkansalo, Niemeläinen, Vaakanainen, Felixson, Vesalainen, Koivula, Nurmi, Kuokkanen, Somppi and the list goes on...

Nurmi is a good prospect. Siren was an all-star at Pohjola camp, but I don't think his upside is particularly high.

It's Stråka, not Straka, those two are pronounced quite differently. Stråka is a fairly common surname in a Swedish speaking coastal town of Nykarleby (Uusikaarlepyy in Finnish). Stråke is a Swedish word for a spring or a bow, just speculating and I could be way off, but perhaps the name derives from that.

Some 1999 and 2000 born prospects who impressed me at Lions Cup in Espoo:

Aleksi Karlsson, Defenseman, Blues, 1999
Niko Nyrhinen, Forward, Blues, 1999

Aarne Talvitie, Forward, Blues, 1999
Petteri Villanen, Forward, Blues 1999
Samuel Vilmi, Forward, Blues, 1999

Axel Dahl, Goaltender, Blues Academy, 2000

Teemu Engberg, Forward, HIFK, 1999
Eero Koivunen, Defenseman, HIFK, 1999
Lauri Kulmala, Forward, HIFK, 1999
Conrad Mölder, Goaltender, HIFK, 1999 (2018 draft)
Niko Torikka, Forward, HIFK, 1999

Juho Korhonen, Defenseman, Kärpät, 1999
Aatu Luusuaniemi, Forward, Kärpät, 1999

The bolded players were particularly strong. Defenseman Karlsson and forward Nyrhinen were very, very good players, but I also liked the goalie Dahl from Blues Academy. Big but showed great reflexes, agility and glover. His team was otherwise very weak. Mölder from HIFK was a very good goalie as well. Kulmala and Vilmi were the biggest surprisers to me in a positive way. Vilmi skated really well, a high intensity player who played a two-way game. But Karlsson really dominated and controlled the play from the defense with great passing plays and patience.

If you want to know something more about any of these players, don't hesitate to ask!

Both Olli Juolevi and Urho Vaakanainen are starting to look more and more like potential 1st rounders. Improvement in Vaakanainen's defensive game over the summer is especially nice to see, if things continue like this I think he'll be ready to play at the WU18C's already this season as a double underager.

Team Finland's defence onwards from 2020?

Määttä - Vatanen
Juolevi - Ristolainen
Vaakanainen - Honka

Sebastian Moberg has been really good with a puck, good passing plays, smooth skater. Is able to shoot difficult shots that are hard for goalies to cover. Still too light to play Liiga regularly. His defensive game needs some development too. Remainds me of Joonas Lyytinen.

Saw him in CHL and exhibition games.

Well, I'm just going to say it. Puljujärvi is the greatest Finnish prospect since Teemu Selänne and this is coming from a man that hates Kärpät with a passion.

Barkov is still better. Jesus, enough with the overhyping.

If Puljujärvi scores PPG pace until Christmas and leads Finland to Gold in WJC's, then maybe.

It's not really overhyping. It's not unrealistic to think he is a similar level to Barkov. At his current age, he's one of the most significant prospects ever from his country.

Barkov wasn't able to accomplish that at 16, so why is that a standard you hold for Puljujarvi?

He is a similar level prospect. I think he is ahead of Barkov in developement curve, but mainly due the wheels. Barkov's skating has improved steadily over the past few years so it will be hard to judge or even really compare these two in the long term. If Puljujärvi played the whole season or even most of it, he'd propably top Barkov in points easily (at the ~same age). Compared to pre-draft year he'd have a lot more work to do. The hype so far is well deserved when you look at how he's played (exhibition, chl, u20 tournament and the seasons prior to this one).

Ps. I don't think he was serious about setting those standars.

I just think very highly of Barkov and for Puljujärvi to top that he would have to do something special, that's all.

I'm a Florida fan, so i'm not exactly conservative on Barkov. Yet, you set a completely unrealistic expectation to exaggerate a point.

At their respective careers at age 16, Puljujarvi is certainly as interesting a prospect as Barkov was. They aren't really similar players so any comparison is difficult, and Barkov had a tremendous development curve from 15-present day.

I would be very suprised of Puljujärvi could match Barkov's draft season. Score more points and play as stellar two-way game. I would be happily suprised and going to enjoy watching him. Watching them i notice two clear differences between Puljujärvi and Barkov. Puljujärvi is way better skater and Barkov's head is quicker and he thinks the game faster than Puljujärvi.

They both do one thing very very well and it is being available for easy passes all the time.

What other prospects are potential 1-2(or other rounds also) rounds in 2016 outside of the obvious two?

For some reason i´ve only been paying notice on Laine and Puljujärvi

If theres a list (example in this thread) of them allready in somewhere, can some1 gave me an updated one?

4 Finns in top 34 at THWs Emac rankings.
http://thehockeywriters.com/thws-201...spect-tracker/

8. Rantanen
27. Ju.Nättinen
32. Saarela
34. Aho

Basicly all 4 are ranked borderline first rounders at this point.

Has anyone seen Robin Salo? 15 year old(2017 draft) guy playing for Sport in A-Juniors. 1+1 in 2 games so far. Is he any good?

Is it fair to say the age groups upcoming are pretty historical? I've read any amounts of names that are well touted.
