Our need and what we can have.

I know we cant trade our futur but we could get help
for 3line phisical help.
Maybe ex.Ian lapperier{sp} type of player that sort of help.
It wont cost us the farm team

Some time play 1line and 2line to bring some grit.
We have to munch softies dakel, juneau, sanstrom,
kilger and ward doesn't hit anymore.

On defence quintal hit when he can and thats not often to slow
bouillon hit alout but no impact to small
markov , brisbois dont hit, rivet isnt strong
enough to push in front of the net he doesn't
hit anymore and dont bring offence.
That leave us whit komi and souray is out
and komi is just starting to have ice time.
So a though hiting defense whit a bit defence mind
would help for the rest of the season.

Wow, your post just gave me a headache reading it !

But ya, something to help out our blueline?
Gill from Boston - Good strong defenseman
Doig - Washington has been on a fire sail.. Give them something to choke on like Hossa's leg !
Hill from Carolina?

I dunno

I definately wouldn't be surpirsed to see gaine ymake a small move as mentioned above. A physical defensive minded forward or a physical stay at home dman that could be had cheap sounds like the type of trade Gainey would be interested in making.

I think we should try to land Sanderson. He would help round out offense on the top two lines. He would cost a 2nd round (or maybe 3rd round + low prospect?).

How about in the off season the Canadiens make a serious attempt to sign Kariya? Ok, he's not big, he's not physical, he's not even the best defensively, but put him with Koivu and Ryder and I think we'd have a LOT more goals next season.

If Gillet is serious about making a strong team once again and run for a cup in a few yrs, making a big off season signing is one sure sign of what he is trying to do.

Kariya, give him 4 yrs anywhere from 5-7 million a yr and he'll come... I think

Well I think we need 3 key things...

1. A physical presence on defense - right now our defense is pretty soft, without Souray we seriously lack a physical defenseman....possible suitors (Hill, Richardson, Doig...)

2. A big physical centerman - If you take a look at us down the middle, we have Koivu-Ribeiro-Juneau-Perrault....those 4 guys hardly strike fear into opposing defenseman. Not sure at all who could fill this role....

3. A scoring winger - As much as I like Sunstrom's game, I don't like him on one of our scoring lines. This is a place that I think can be solved within the organization with players like Balej, Hossa or Perezhogin.

With the trade deadline only a few weeks away, its going to be interesting to see what Gainey decides to do. I guess it will depend on how team fares over those weeks.

Get rid of the softies: Dackell, Juneau,Sundstrom,Perrault and Dagenais

replace by Kilger, Ward, Hossa, Bégin, Trade

These are realistic changes that we can make right now

Hossa and Kilger arent soft and Ward does play with Grit. Kilger is been doing good lately but playing on a 4th line cant help. I still believe he can make a fine third line player. Hossa doesnt shy away from contact and is mighty strong in the corners, how can you say that he's soft. I would put those guys in be would be better right away.

Ok Kilger try to hit more but what u see is what you get and its not enough
we need more Begin type on 4line.
Hossa work good in corner but doesn't hit.
Ward plays good diffence but doesn' hit anymore why do you
think he was bench.

They surely know more than me but they are stubburn too to stick with players like Perrault and Dagenais while you damn well know that they are making our team weaker and they should not play for this team anymore. As for kilger, Ward and Hossa its just my opinion. I'm sure that they could do a bettr job than those two.

Exactly....in your opinion. Don't state it like it is fact.

Don't mean to nitpick.

and Ward does play with Grit.

Well you can knock Ward for not scoring but the guy is another version of Begin, he tries on every play and bangs along the boards (when he is standing up lol)

I don't know what people expect here. Going into this year we knew we would be in a dogfight for the play-offs. Guess what we are. I am as enthusiastic about our prospects as anybody and more than most. But while Balej/Perez/Hossa/Higgins/Pleks/Hainsey/Milroy/Ferland are possibly the future, we already brought in Ryder/Ward/Komo. If we tried to play all of the rookies at once we would be worse off than we are now. Hamilton is in first but they aren't running away in the AHL.

Right now our top six in any order are Koivu,Zednik,Ryder,Bulis,Ribs,Dags. Out of this group there is really only one spot, Dags, (possibly two if Bulis goes down to the third line) that will be open next year.

Now of our bottom six we have Juneau,Dackell,Sunny,Ward,Begin,Langdon with Kilger,Perrault as fillers. Out of this group I would expect Ward, Begin, Langdon, Sunny to be back next year.

SO I think that next year you will see Balej moved up to the first two lines to replace Dags. If either of the two Russians Perez/Kas show something special in training camp then you move Bulis down to the second six. Which leaves an opening for one of Higgins or Pleks to move into.

On Defence you can put spots aside for Souray,Markov,Brisebois,Komo,Rivet the other spot will either go to Hainsey or god forbid another year of Bouillon.

This team next year will be better, but still isn't ready to win the cup. It will take a year of development by the rookies especially Komo and Hainsey. At the end of next year we can start thinking about adding a vetran for the play-off run. Its pointless getting one now. We aren't ready and I think its a waste of time giving up prospects for a Bondra/Gonchar who will be long in the tooth when the rest of the team catches up with the talent level of those two gentleman.
