+1 that. PK is talented for sure-- maybe a bit cocky. Don't think he is in Weber's orbit as an all-around D man. Better in some aspects of his game, but not all around. I would take Shea any day of the week. Think they may regret having that much cap tied up in him, even though their options were limited by past missteps

You can't compare an old CBA contract to a new CBA contract. The rules of the game are different.

In 4 years, Subban's deal will be just fine.

It probably will be, but it just blows my mind that he got that kind of money. I mean the guy is good, but I don't know that he is that good. Think about it, in that 4 years time, depending on how Josi and Jones develop, Subban could be a #4 if he were here.

I don't know, maybe its just me, but I've always thought the guy was way overrated. Even the year he won the Norris, I still couldn't help but feel that if he was playing in a different market ( Tampa, Nashville, Phoenix, heck even some of the teams out west) he wouldn't of even been a finalist.

The new TV contract that Canada is getting with Sportsnet is being factored in as well

Yeah but I thought we had already heard reports that part of that contract was already being factored in for part of this years cap as well. Its the reason people are saying the cap number won't rise nearly as much as people expect it too.

1. Del Zotto signs one-year deal with Philadelphia. Which is good because...

2. Kimmo is out with blood clots.

It's official: The Philadelphia Flyers have turned into the old Nashville Predators.

thats awful for kimmo, especially if the clots went to his lungs….

at his age this could easily be career ending...

I wonder if Vokoun and Kimmo were doing something to cause clots?

I believe vokouns date back to a childhood burn injury in which he had an IV in the large vein in his leg

Its pure speculation but long plane rides with no room to stretch your legs has been associated with clot formation… could have happend on the plane ride home. Dehydration can contribute as well.. maybe he worked out too hard and didn't hydrate… again, all just speculation..

I'm assuming neither smoke. The above seems the most reasonable. Any recent surgery for Kimmo?

reading the thread on the main board that he had a clot in his ankle and missed part of the playoffs in 07-08. but I'm thinking that wasn't a clot but a hematoma based on the injury(blocked shot)

Weber is running away with this HF Norris Voting thing, and it's literally not even close. At all.

He came in third in actual Norris voting. When nearly 100 hockey fans are asked to vote on Norris, given five more options to fill than the PHWA voters get, he is far and away the winner.

How about that?

Not surprising, just one more thing to show that the Norris voting has become a joke.

Maybe 2. Maybe.

That said, anything that puts us in the east, i'm in favor of. I think we have more in common and an easier draw with teams like Pittsburgh, NY, Boston, Detroit/Cbus the Southeast teams, etc. than teams way the heck out in the Pacific. It's just stupid that we play Vancouver more than we play Carolina, Cbus, etc.

Even tho were in the SEC of NHL conferences, I'd support a move to the SE. Glad ATL wasn't included, so I wouldn't have to compromise my Preds Fandom!!

Not me. I would not want to be the only central team in the east. Built in disadvantage regarding rest and practice times. Everyone plays the other teams and experiences it some, but this would be every division foe with that advantage.

adding 4 teams would be crazy other than for the money it would generate for the existing teams.

we would then still have unbalanced divisions and possibly still have unbalanced conferences.

two new teams would make more sense, but of course would generate a lot less money

On the main boards there was a model with 36 teams. While I question the need for that many new teams and wonder what it would do to current team rosters, the model itself was pretty good.
