With this team, I really don't see SET top pair units. All of the defenseman seem to get ample time. But yeah, he's definitely set for next year.

Girardi reminds me of Kevin Lowe. He quietly does the little things right. He rarely makes mistakes. He's just a solid defenseman. What's impresses me the most is that he's a rookie playing like a veteran. He'll easily be a top 4 d-man next year.

What impresses me most about Girardi is how calm and effective he is along the boards in tight quarters...

Oh yea, he is here to stay, his calm cool steady play has been great to see in a player of such a young age.

Agreed. Every since Girardi joined the team, the defense as a whole has become much more responsible. He just seems to have cooled everyone down.

Another comparison which I heard that I agreed with is he's like a Doug Lidster. Never flashy, but just flat out solid.

Tyutin-Girardi will be a solid pair for years to come.

I think that giveaway in Atlanta was the first mistake I saw him make where he couldn't get back in time to fix.

Agreed, the kid is just so solid. He makes Malik look even more erratic though.

Girardi

He played a very solid game today. He played well in the first game but one little mistake and the fans wanted him benched. He is a very good defensive player. Can't wait for his offensive numbers start. He has always put up good numbers throughout his career.

After a somewhat flawed first game, Girardi was his normal excellent tonight...

The one play where he owned Kovalchuk was just awesome...

Girardi is a MUST in the top 6 for this team... He could play with Tyutin for the next 10 years with the way it looks.
