Sergei played well tonight. He just got stoned by Gajewski a few times. "Juice" was on tonight. Sergei made space, made chances, just wasn't lucky to bury one.

Anyhow, I can't believe the Hounds are back in this series, after being down 3-0!

I think no matter how well KostJr does in camp he'll end up in the AHL. It is the way it's been with all of our other prospects, so I can't see the Habs changing their ways now.

Has Latendresse created a precedent? I know he couldn't go to Hamilton and all, but I guess that if a kid plays 'lights out' in future training camps, maybe that kid will get a place in the line-up.

I'm not gonna say it about Latendresse, but someone will.

I think he'll have a good not sensationnal season in the ahl (a little like D'ago) with maybe a little call-up of a couple of games in the nhl, just for taste...and be ready for a much more important role in 2009, maybe even a regular place with the habs...

Why is it so popular now to bash Latendresse?

He had a very good year for a 19yo, showed great skills and some big problems to, but mainly because he's so young.

Did he deserve to be in the nhl? Well, if Kessel and Brule did and so was an 18yo Thornton, yes he did, very much so!

He's not the best player out there, but he surely have a great future in front of him...

How many of you Latendresse bashers, thought that Plekky wasn't even important to the team at the beginning of the season? That he was "easily" replaceable because he made only a few goals and points?

Did he play well enough in camp to diserve is nhl place? Yes
Did his agent put pressure on Gainey to keep him? Yes
Are both sides happy? Yes, very much so... now get over it!!

I didn't bash him, I'm just waiting for someone to say he made the team out of the camp because he's french.

Even with Latendresse he had to have 2 very good camps before he was considered good enough for the Habs. If KostJr plays "Lights out" at training camp, I would still be surprised if he makes the big club.

Personally starting out the season in Hamilton will be a great help for him adjusting to the Pro game.

I don't think it had anything to do with Lats being french. I think it was a battle between Kosty and Lats. IMO Lats had a slightly better training camp. Plus you add in that Lats couldn't be sent to the AHL, only to juniors. The Habs felt that Lats wouldn't gain from another year in juniors, so the decision was made for him to stay up with the big club.

I have been a Pleks fan ever since I seen his first game. I love his game.
Lats on the other hand kind of dissapointed me after his preseason tease.
I just hope he improves cause if he doesnt he is definetly not my type of player.

Nice point. I also like to take the 'patience' road with young players. I was just wondering if the Habs would likely be more impatient (if you will) with players coming from Junior now that the Lats experiement wasn't a mistake.

If the player shows enough in three weeks of training camp and if the powers of the club believe that young player to be able to help the club maybe they will keep him. Basically, certain players are mature hockey players at a young age. We just have to use the right judgement on certain players.

Didn't Svoboda get a spot at 18 or 19? He wasn't bad either. We will have to see; only 5 months until training camp....

I think you could be right Gustave, with Lats doing so well this year coming directly from junior. I think the Habs will definitely show more patience with players coming from junior.
