He was obviously a liability. I understand we as Eagles fans are spoiled having Akers here for so long, but Henery's leg is/was an absolute joke and shame on the front office for taking so long to do something about it.

Hopefully the Eagles will make the right decision and we can put laughably the most questionable position competition behind us.

So information throughout the day. Josey cut. Momah cut.

Trey Burton is rumored to have made it. Supossidly he hasnt dropped a pass in any preseason game so far. I thought he looked good yesterday also.

Polk doesnt play in preseason but made the team.

Hard to say anyone has definitively made the team at this point. Once someone attractive becomes available on the waiver wire, all bets are off. The best players are usually released closer to the deadline (4 pm tomorrow).

I'm a Florida fan. I like Burton. Annen was the guy people were talking about, but he is half the football player Trey is. Probably one of the few teams in the league where he fits. He can do a lot for you. Won't be too effective in line as a blocker, but you can split him out, he can play the slot, former QB can play wildcat, even lined up as a FB on occasion at Florida. Plays special teams as well which is key for a reserve player. If he makes it either Casey gets cut or they go short a WR. He's a cheaper, faster Casey (another guy I think could be used better).

Also sounds like they are trying to trade Damaris Johnson. He hasn't turned out to be the returner I thought he would, he doesn't have the long speed, but I feel if he was used properly, he could be an asset as a slot receiver. You saw it last night. Get him in space and the guy makes plays. Strikes me as a guy that would get picked up by New England and rip it up.

Didn't think they would go with just 3 RBs. Interested to see if they make any pickups on the waiver wire.

Sucks about Travis Long. Not just that he got hurt, but it mean another year of Casey Matthews.

Polk: Hurt all the time, do nothing all preseason, make team.
Tucker: Play well, get cut.

Only decision I'm not okay with.

Polk is better. You shouldn't lose your job because of injury. He's proven the last 2 years he's an NFL player.

I was more impressed with Josey than Tucker honestly. Tucker is a better special teams player than Josey, but Polk is pretty good too.

No matter who is in the backfield though, the system is going to work. I think that was made clear this preseason.

God, I can't stand Lane Kiffin. Was ecstatic when he got fired from SC but of course he had to go to another school I cheer for.

As an Alabama supporter I have to agree. Seeing Lane Kiffin just angers me.

Interesting. Is there a reason why?

He's been a failure everywhere he's gone, yet keeps moving "up" in the world. I just think he's extremely overrated, because his results on the field have been terrible. Watching this game they've had a camera on Kiffin for 50% of the first half.

His antics with Tennesee were also terrible.

He's a lame duck coach who's been living off his dad's name. He also has a d-bag personality, for whatever reason he's cocky despite not accomplishing much in his career.

It was a pretty puzzling hire by Bama to be honest, he's an alright recruiter (it's kind hard not to get good results at Bama in regards to recruiting) but a terrible play caller. He just has a bad stigma around him right now, you would have thought Bama could have gotten someone better.

In his last year two years at USC he had kids from Cali who would normally commit in heartbeat there completely eliminate them from contention for their services because of him. Some even publicly admitted so & criticized Kiffin. When they fired him some players opened back up & Sakasian was able to get them back in the fold but some others moved on at that point.

Bama actually had a highly committed QB from Cali for this current cycle last year who didn't want to play for USC with Kiffin there. He flipped from to USC shortly after Kiffin was hired at Bama.

Stone Cold Steve Austin on College GameDay had to be the highlight of the day for me on this opening Saturday. Rolling in on a Gator then doing a double beer smash to just drinking beers on national tv while sitting there making his picks was a nice touch. Only thing missing was a Stone Cold Stunner to Lee Corso.

Ultimately I think the overriding factor is that he's not a very good coach & everybody knows it now. Him being a d-bag just adds to it.

Urban Meyer is/has been the most hated man in college football ever since his Florida days but he produces results so it's all matters really.

The SEC (the same could be said for the entire power 5 as well) looks really wide open this year if Week 1 is any indication. I say this a lot & it usually never happens under Richt but this might actually be Georgia's year.
