I will some Crow on Forsberg he's been awsome in the 2 Playoff games, but I still think we gave up too much for him.

We won't know how much we gave up for him until we're either eliminated or we win the cup. The regular season was just practice for the Preds\Forsberg. Now is the time that he shows his mettle...and he's been huge for us, especially with the ghost-act Kariya has put on and Sully being out.

Arnott had a pretty bad game 2 after a nice game 1.

I think Scottie Upshall who wasnt doing anything, and a low draft pick in a weak draft werent much at all.

Nah, Upshall and the pick weren't the stinger...it was Ryan Parent...but as we said at the time...Suter, Weber...Franson...we can afford it. Hamhuis is young, as well.

Who will Forsberg play with in game three, with Radulov gone? Fiddler and Hartnell?

Alot of people think Parent's back injury will plague him for awhile.

It's pretty clear now that Forsberg was basically coasting during the regular season and saving his efforts for the playoffs. He has been a great addition to the team for the playoffs.

People should also remember that had we not acquired Forsberg, one of the other Western conf. teams might have picked him up. Poile and co. couldn't take that chance, especially if Forsberg continues his excellent playoff performance

I don't know if this has been mentioned by other people the boards but at the banquet for my sons house league at southern ice arena the Forsberg trade came up.

Director of Hockey Operations: Micheal Santos was the guest speaker and he talk candidly about the fact that the wings were intent on acquiring Forsberg but couldn't do so until the sixteenth I believe because of the salary cap numbers. So what the Preds did was make the deal the day before the wings could even make an official offer. Had they waited the price would have gone way up and could have actually cost us something that we truly placed value on.

Once again maybe this will clue in some people that we as fans have absolutely no clue as to what is truly happening behind the scenes.

I think that info was talked about at the time of the trade, actually

Actually I doubt that is true. At the time of the trade there was speculation as to who was in the hunt for him but I never once saw the type of specific info as far as dates and confirmations of unofficial bids that I am referring to.

What you just said...about the Preds making the deal at that time and why...was on this very board, as I'm sure someone else will remember. It wasn't a secret around the league, I think Ken Holland actually mentioned it.

I remember that being quoted by Poile I believe the day or so after the trade was made

It was. That's not the first I've heard of that story about Detroit and its cap situation holding them up in the Forsberg deal. And I'm about the least connected Preds fan living in the hockey wasteland known as downtown Miami. So if I heard it, it was either brought to the public by this board or John Glennon. And we know it wasn't John Glennon.

I'll have to take your word for it since I'm going to sift through past posts.

It is funny though how some people have to continue to be reminded of extenuating circumstances that GMs around the league have to deal with that we as fans aren't privy to.

I guess it's a sign of unbalanced scoring.

hopefully missing Radulov will get some others contributing. atleast a positive can come from it!

Fiddler had limited ice time in game 2. Hartnell and Dumont should be his main companions I think. What I'd like to see in game 3 though is some improvement from the ELK-line. If that line get going as well the Sharks will have some serious problems. "IF" is a wonderful word isn't it?

Scoring 9 goals in 2 games tends to get your players on the top of the scoring list, especially when all 9 goals are from only 3 players. A better judge than scoring is usually overall goal differential, and the Preds are right in the pack in that regard. Here's how that breaks down for all the teams after 2 games:

Detroit +5
Anaheim +2
Buffalo +2
Nashville +2
New York Rangers +2
Ottawa +2
Dallas +1
New Jersey +1

The only +/- that matters a damn bit to me is in the win/lose column

Fission, Detroit's stats don't count. We are talking about the playoffs here. I've seen just about every second of the first two games of the series, and I've yet to see a playoff game. There are long stretches where I swear not a single Calgary player would make it on the ice in a Detroit uniform.
