Who do Caps fans want?

I thought now that the order is known i would do a mock draft where the fans of each team vote for who they want their team to draft. Thought it might be interesting to get a perspective of what is seen as the best pick from each fanbase for their favorite team.

1 - Kane (Chicago)
2 - Voracek (Philly)
3 - Turris (Phoenix)
4 - Alzner (LA)

top 4 went as expected but it should start getting closer now.

If we're keeping the pick...and Turris and Voracek are already gone...gotta take Cherepenov.

Agreed. Cherepanov, then JVR, then Gagner would be my picks (just as the OP has ordered them). But, at this point, a lot can change between now and draft day when it comes to those top four picks. Those four are the likely outcome right now, I'd agree (though I think Philly takes Turris and Phoenix nabs Voracek). Watch out for JVR, though, he might crack the top four if he comes out strong in the U18s.

eh, pulled a reach and went couture. If cherepanov is still available when the caps draft I don't see them drafting him, trading down instead to get something that might be of value and picking couturelater in the draft.

ditto here also. Though couture/ganger/esposito have intriguing elements.

The weekend scouting trip in montreal is a little interesting. Obviously Mcphee and co should be scouting as many prospects as possible, but the fact that the newspaper specifically mentioned them scouting Espo is throwing me off. Maybe they want him and will trade down to get him, or maybe they are pretending to want him to entice some one else to give up something to trade up for him. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I really love JvR but I don't love him for the Caps given our needs.

I know many disagree, but I am always leaning towards defensemen with 1st round picks. I love Alzner.

Hopefully the Caps will play some Bon Jovi when he scores.

I don't see the Caps taking Cherepanov, just a feeling

I don't know if it's a given that Alzner goes top 4.

Doubt it, he'll call around get an idea who everyone wants in the top 4. If Espo is there, he'll probably take him...typical McPhee move . Can't see him trading down and risk losing him to the trading partner and or whoever is in between...

I'd rather have Randy Couture.

I wouldn't read too much into him scouting Esposito.

This isn't the NFL. You draft the most talented player available. You do NOT draft for position. Especially since the guy you draft may not be NHL ready for 2 to 4 years and your team's needs/holes may have changed completely.
