We played an excellent first period. If Vokoun doesn't scramble wide on a scoring chance with virtually no angle and then proceed to do his best slug impression, we would be tied going into the lockeroom with all the momentum. As it stands, we are down 1-0 after playing very hard.

Agreed...but to back up my previous post...it could easily be 3-0 right now, if not for some lucky posts. Vokoun has been beaten by a shot that came off an awful rebound kicked right out into the slot(Pavelski, cross bar) and then cleanly off an unscreened shot by Grier(right post)
They are playing with more of an edge tonight. The way they are playing is risky because could give up some easy scores or steals, but it is do or die tonight. This is simply a must win. Period.
You can't ask for many more solid chances than what we had that period...good traffic in front of Nabokov....but still down 1-0 is depressing as hell.....gotta *****ing finish...
Kariya playing much better.....Arnott still non-existent.
Playing much more of a speed game than I thought the Sharks would let us play when they went up a goal.
We played our best period since game 2....by far.....take off your Trotz-hating glasses for 1 minute at least, and give the guys some credit....
Vokoun needs to settle in and remain square like he has been in previous games instead of following the play around wide and put himself out of position repeatedly
We had a terrible game 3, but we outplayed the Sharks in game 1 and 2......We just had another great start to game 4 (play wise). If we can get a goal to tie this up in the second, I think we will win this game at the pace we are playing. Yeah.........I hate a lot of Trotz's philosophies too, but lets not forget that for most of this series, we have been the better team.

Exactly right. Sure, we've had some chances, but San Jose could have buried us already. We must tighten up defensively when they start their cycle. It is absolutely killing us. Our D still seems very tentative to play physically, though kudos to Hamhuis for trying to turn it up a notch.
Not a bad first period, but unless we get some more traffic to the net, we're not scoring on Nabokov tonight

Get a win on the road ... PERIOD ... and then maybe, just maybe I'll tone the hate down a bit
Must keep this pressure going, you have to think Nabby will let one or two in if we keep getting the chances we had in that first period, if he doesn't let any in well crap we were beaten by a hot goalie, the x factor of course is vokoun, if he doesn't pick up his game then it doesnt matter what our forwards do in the 2nd and 3rd.
well the chances of the Cup returning to the South got smaller tonight- Thrashers swept.
actually I'm happy with that ... Trashers are the dirtiest ****in' team in the league and they got what they deserved getting swept by the Rangers tonight

but I would really get a kick out of the Cup residing below the Mason Dixon line for 3 straight seasons.
