Worrell v. Downey

What a bout! Huge mismatch, I think if he was pissed Worrell could have won much more decisively but it was one of the longest fights I've ever seen. Did anyone else catch it?

Then obviously you need to watch more games, or at least the highlights.

Who does the 10 o'clock Sportsnet News for you guys in Alberta?

We get Don Taylor and he is the funniest friggin guy ever when hes doing hilights. His best line as of late is when theres a fight going on and one guy "jerseys" the other guy, Don calls it the "Dutch Oven". I hadnt heard that term used in a hockey fight before and I found it quite amusing.

Worrell looked like a giant compared to Downey...ill give Downey credit though...he shook his head no to the refs when they first were going to break it up..
It was a decent grabfest...not a real slugout...

on the topic of fights.

anybody have a Flying clue why Ried Low did his best Balerina Impression to Dipsey Doodle out of the way of McCarty Trying to grab him and fight?

I mean the replay shows it ALMOST looked like Low wanted to go, but instead his gloves flew off, his stick flew out of his hand, and he almsot jumped over McCarty, and then ran to the bench. McCarty got an unsportsmanlike... Kinda of cheap.

maybe he wasnt prepared to fight because unlike Peter Worrell, McCarty had his gloves off and was ready to go?

That description provided a very confusing scenario for me.

Low hit Mark Mowers... It was one of those, clean but he ran him hits. McCarty went RIGHT after him. He grabbed Low. Low Basically did like a NFL Running back trying to avoid a tackle by Lifting his arms, to get around McCarty and went right to the bench. IN the process of dispy-doodling around McCarty Lows Gloves and Stick went flying.

The reply looked like Low was at least thinking about going, but when McCarty had his gloves off, Low changed his mind and ran. Now i am in no way saying Low would run from McCarty, but in this instance he wanted nothing to do with him.

Hell later in the game, McCarty lowbridged him [kind of minor] and Low didnt do anything, Tkachuk and I think it was Bogunieki got in McCarty's Face.

He is a giant compared to Downey. 8 inches taller and 40 plus pounds heavier.

A long fight definitely, but no really good punches landed. The Cummins-Guerin bout was the best in the game because those two opened it up (and Cummins finally got a decisive win because of it).

McCormick and Morrow also went, too bad McCormick isn't fully healthy, because something tells me that Morrow would be on his back if he was.

Cummins ain't much better. Still good to see someone pop Guerin around a bit, considering how much crap he's done in the past that he's never come to terms with.

HEre's what I pieced together:

Downey and Ott were on the ice when McAllister and Worrell both were, 3 or 4 of the aforementioned got in close quarters against the boards, and Downey hit somebody or something. Next thing you know, McAllister drops the gloves and tries to grab Downey. However Downey and Worrell are eye balling each other and have their gloves dropped as well. The linesman weeded out McAllister since he really wasn't the one who Downey wanted. After that, Fox never really showed exactly what McAllister did.

After the commercial break, they came back to show the linesman separating a gloved Ott and a bare knuckled McAllister. My guess is that after McAllister got booted from the first bout, he grabbed a hold of whoever he could, and Ott was his first choice considering how chippy he'd played thus far in the game. I can only speculater what went on after that, but I'm guessing that it involved a lot of punches to the back of the neck of a facedown Ott who is covering up like...well, like a turtle.

It's the most emotion I've seen out of McAllister in 4 years.

Hey it's not Probert v. Domi but I like seeing the little guy hang with one of the biggest dudes in the league! Maybe this isn't worth a tread of it's own?
