Crosby's foot broken....

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_503934.html

Don't know if this is posted elsewhere, but figured it was newsworthy. Maybe we can start a new thread comparing Sid and AO's pain threshold.

This guy is amazing. At the tender age of 19, he is already proving to be as gritty and self sacrificing as any old war horse. I hope though that if a serious enough injury does occur, he'll have some sense to sit out rather than aggravate his injuries as he has a lot of years left to go.

It is too bad he was injured, but Ottawa would've been too powerful even if they had to face a team full of healthy Crosby's (well, maybe put Esche in goal). Good time all around.

By the way, that last month he indeed slowed. Only 22 pts. in 16 games, and then 5 pts. in five games of the playoffs to follow that up. On one good foot.

I'm surprised that TSN or CBC haven't reported this. There was speculation on the Penguins board last night that this announcement would be made but I didn't believe it. Sid has some strength.

I didn't like Crosby much last season, but this season he's gained my total respect. What a player. I dont think many guys in the NHL would play on a broken foot.

He's in the eastern conference, pain isn't as intese as in the west.

The guy has always had my respect, and he continues to grow and proceed down the path to greatness.

19 years old and already an injury, even though it's nothing serious(?). Will he need some kind of advanced treatment?

I guess the WCs screwed for him?

Its silly that he kept on playing at the end of the season with the broken bone. He should have let it heal correctly and came at 100% in the playoffs.

I respect the fact that he played through the pain, but his team was already guaranteed a playoff spot, and they needed him to be at no less then 100% for his team to go far.

I agree, but they were also in the running for a division championship and home ice till the very end. And based on Sid's character, I'm sure that they can't get him to sit out when there is still something to play for.

Broken foot? Ha, yeah right...

...just an excuse so that he doesn't have to fly to Moscow. What a disgrace.

Joe Thornton played with a broken toe, finger, and strep throat during November/December, but playing with a broken foot is very impressive.
