Vandermeer is a nice addition. You have one hell of a tough defense now. Good pick up.

We trade our leading scorer and our 'captain' within a week. Must be another rebuilding year. This will be just like the Roenick and Belfour deals. These guys will flourish with other teams where they are surrounded by talent, rather than in cheap chicago. The Zhamnov deal doesn't anger me as much as the Sullivan trade. Pulford asks Sully to take a pay-cut on his contract extension because his production is down? His longtime linemate, Daze, is gone all year and Zhamnov wasn't around either. Yet Sully still led the team in points. But, HE needs to take a PAY CUT???? God, I hate Bill Wirtz. If I didn't live in Chicago, I'd never be a fan of this team. I'm ashamed to be now.

And, I'm sick of trading away established players away for draft picks and unexperienced players. This team has been sorely lacking leadership since Amonte left and who the hell in their dressing room is going to lead them now? Sullivan was the next logical choice (and would've been better than Zhamnov, IMO). Bell? He's 23. Daze? Nope. He's a mute, and he's always hurt. Every team needs a leader, and we have none.

You make good points Hoorock...but I can't notice that you are annoyed by Chicago's tactics in the same way I am with Philadelphia's....and the two teams have absolutely polar ways of running their teams.

I actually wish the Flyers would try to build their own roster and stop trying to go after established veterans that are past the prime of their career.

Even though I am a Wings fan, it really pains me to see the Blackhawks the way there are. Rivalry or not, I always root for the Original 6 teams. And it makes the Hawks/Wings rivalry much more exciting when they are both fighting for something.

I hope they can get things turned around. Good luck in Chi-town.

Chicago is starting to look at lot like Pittsburgh.

All I can tell you is that you shouldn't expect much for the next 10 years. Roy was traded how many years ago and we're still feeling the effects of that one :\

Give the team 2-3 years and it will be back in the playoffs.

Nashville is only 8 hours away We'd be more than happy to have you down. My fiance and her family are from Chitown and now live here. I have officially converted them to pred fans.

honestly, if zhamnov had to be traded, i think you guys got a pretty solid return. Vandemeer is a tough, up and coming defenseman...and Colin Fraser looks like a solid prospect. Factor in that you guys have a stockpile of second round picks, and maybe you can turn them into something.

With Sully and Zhamnov gone, I wonder if this means Daze will be on the way out once he returns from injury? Many teams would probably inquire about him, though he has an injury history.

Plus I think the one thing everyone forgets is both Vandemeer and Fraser played for the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL, coached by Brent Sutter so they are definitely going to fit in within the "Sutter" mold. I think they'll develop extremely nicely in Chicago.

Daze has the "Lindros" stigma, I fear. Wasn't he told by doctors that his back is bad enough that he might never play again?

He skated again today. He'll be back some time this year but no one really knows when.

Bill Wirtz really pisses me off. I feel really bad for you people down in Chicago.

A nice city, original six team yet you can't even watch your team play home games on TV? Ridiculous.

Not only that you have great jerseys...the history ehhhh, a little iffy there.

The NHL TV Ratings blow, but imagine what a Chicago/Rangers Stanley Cup Finals would draw?

I watch on NHL Center Ice, and see a dead, empty arena and it's depressing. I can't blame you guys though.

but god damn Wirtz. Is this guy willing to sell the team or looking to?

I doubt that will happen. Young, cheap players is what they like. They won't deal them for some time.

Nope. He makes too much money on everything (well, everything except the team itself) connected to the United Center to give up.
