if lacroix was really serious about gonchar..

and with the acquistion of boughner would he be crazy enough to offer skoula, liles and a top pick for gonchar?

2 young nhl caliber defensemen would be very inticing for the caps and tough to match by other gms.

pretty crazy idea but i was reading the leaf board at fanhome and their fans were glad that boughner was off the market so he wouldnt go there(they said no need for a marchment#2 which makes sense) and that it elminates the rumored avs from the gonchar sweepsteeks, but other cautioned that lacroix dosnt work like that and if anything may have given lacroix even more ammo for a gonchar trade ie 2 young nhl caliber dmen.

crazy, but what do u think?

Based on tonight's performance....don't think the Avs could even get a 9th round pick for Skoula

I think Lilies, Ballard, 1st round pick for Gonchar is as good as it can get for the Caps.

Skoula isn't exactly a hot comodity anymore.

If Ferguson was willing to move Colaiacovo, the deal would have been done a while back.

Apparentely McPhee wants Colaiacovo... and JFJ's not interested in moving him.

Skoula had an excellent rookie season. But since then, he has regressed in basically everything. Remember all of that "puck poise" people were talking about a few years back? Skoula seems to have lost it all. You know what happens when you put a tray of cookies in front of Starr Jones then turn your back for a moment? The same thing has happened to Skoula's abilites since his rookie year. I think that the Avalanche brought him up a little too quickly - a few months in the minors wouldn't have hurt him.

Still, Skoula occasionally shows signs of promise - for a few shifts. The Avalanche coaching staff still seems to be reluctant to trade him - or at certain times, play him. A change of scenery may wake him up.

I think they'd want Skoula back too. So they could have another NHL d-man.

You sound so definitive, and yet really, you have no idea. Its all rumors bub. If Gonchar only nets Carlo, GMGM is gonna get eaten alive by washington. You Leaf fans brag about how Carlo is the 18th rated prospect. Well Zippity doo da DAY! You yourself called him the 5th best defenseman in the NHL. He is 29 and a RFA next year!

Do the math man.

Is Gonchar worth Colaiacovo? YES.

All I'm saying is that JFJ has a plan... and that is he's not going to ship out prospects for veterans. This isn't Pat Quinn... if PQ was still in office, you'd have both Colaiacovo and another prospect if he was interested in Gonchar.

I don't think PL ever planned to go near Gonchar. Avs have enough skilled puckmoving defensemen and have enough skilled D for the powerplay.

I think mostly becase PL have not been afraid to pull the trigger on big deals in the past everyone assumes he is involved in any trade for a big name.

Konowalchuk, Nikolishin, Boughner. Useful deals but no blockbusters.

Colorado would be wise to walk away from this deal.

Gonchar is good, but I dont see him fetching Liles, Skoula, AND a top pick (im assuming you mean first rounder). Possibly two of those three but not all of them. Thats just my opinion though.

Well Skoula is actually good when he's been invisible or a non-factor. If I was McPhee, why would I trade my best asset for a Joel Giveawaykowski clone?
