Habs fan here

I don't know any of your goalie prospects but if I was your GM I'd have a good look at Aebisher. He had a below average season but in his case it's just a matter of rebuilding his confidence. Beside he'll be cheap.

Macaroni didn't look too hot last night, I can tell you that. Krahn might as well work at McDonalds with all the free french fries he gives to our fans...

i think thats 1 option... if there are no takers on Esche he is an option too.. same with Burke... but to make that work the flames organization needs to play the backup more than 10-15 times

as for McElhinney... i think its his job to lose come training camp

McElhinney would be the obvious choice in my opinion IF they aren't able to sign a legitimate back-up from elsewhere. Weeks, Burke, Esche, Abeisher, would all be ideal choices to fit into the role the Flames would want them to play i would think. Kipper plays an awful lot, and while he may enjoy it, I feel he needs to be rested more that 6 or 7 times a season. If Sutter was to bring in Weeks, Burke, Esche, or Abeisher, they would need to play them around 20 times a season (IMO), and things should work out.

We can't have both Krahn and McElhinney in Omaha next year, either we get rid of one of them so Keetley can get AHL time or one of them (preferably McElhinney) gets moved up.

It really depends on who is available in the offseason in the backup goalie department.

I thought I read somewhere that Krahn is a UFA after this season. If so, he may not even be in the organization come next fall.

McElhinney will, unless he severely falters during camp. He's one of the top 2 goalies in the AHL. Look how well guys like Halak, Backstrom, Mike Smith, and Josh Harding have done.

Well I knew he was an free agent but I'm not sure if it was a UFA or RFA (though I'm pretty sure McElhinney is an RFA as well). McElhinney will obviously be resigned, but if he's going to be the NHL backup, Sutter may look to keep Krahn around.

Kiprusoff is in the same class as Luongo, Turco, Giguere etc. He is leaned on as the go to guy so he plays a lot. If we bring in someone from the outside he would have to be capable of playing 20 games and actually winning 10+. The only guy I see capable of doing that is Aebisher.

If McElhinney is the back-up next season, look for Kipper to play 70+ games again.

Krahn is toast next year.

I don't know much about McElhinney, but it sounds like another year on the farm will be better for him than riding the pine in Calgary and playing 10-12 games.
