pretty exciting news, no sarcasm, i'm assuming its not often that you get a whole playoff series on live TV? especially not the finals?

enjoy, and cheer loud enough for them to hear you on this side of the Atlantic!

pretty exciting news? i would have sold my mother for the games on tv! watching comcast or sopcast streams is pretty intense on the eyes, unlike watching tv on my plasma widescreen

as far as I can remember, austrian tv has NEVER shown NHL hockey... here in Europe, to see US-Sports (NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA etc.), you have to subscribe to private channel packages (Premiere in Germany, Canal+ is Sweden, Sky in the UK, NASN all over Europe, etc...)..

TODAY IS A BIG DAY FOR AUSTRIAN NHL, BUFFALO and RANGERS FANS

because its the first meeting between two austrians ever in an nhl playoff series... i'm sure the broadcasting costs are pretty heavy, but ice hockey has flourished in the past couple of years...

...also, the world championships in russia are starting any day soon, austria being in the same group with the USA, Czech Republic and Belarus...

Well, according to Os's original post it's the first time to native Austrians have met in the playoffs. Vanek is the bigger name, but I'm thinking it's this first-ever occasion that's led to the broadcasting of the games.

Hehe, I see the sopcast stream on my LCD widescreen. Sure it's not the same quality as Canal+ games but I rather listen to the american commentators.

Oh and congratulations!

highly doubtful... there is this old stiff by the name of Erich Weiss, his play-by-play makes the buffalo guy ("holy macaroni...woohoo.. ramalama dingdong... what an icing by buffalo... he sent that puck all the way to the other end of the ice... beepbeepyakyak... where mommy hides "uncle bob"...") look like a genious. he is always 30 seconds behind the play and has the most monotone voice ever!

my guess that they will broadcast the original feed (the versus guys in english) and good ol' Erich, and you can switch to either while watching... they do this here with all the sh!tty shows like "grey's anatomy - the slluty doctor" and "desperate housewives"

That would be wonderful if they did it here in Sweden but we only get the swedish commentators.

at least you guys have decent and passionate swedish commentators (yes, i've seen SEL games in swedish)... not like our stiff erich, who usually commentates rowing and horseback riding
