definetly have to upgrade the Fiddler, Nichol, Smithsons.
yep, I also think that's what you need.

I'd have loved to see the following lines;

Kariya-Forsberg-Erat
Dumont-Arnott-Sullivan
Hartnell-Legwand-Radulov
Hordichuk-Nichol/Abid-Tootoo

What happened to Nolan Yonkman? Is a guy like Greg Zanon really a better option?

Dude, I LOVE Yonkman, but he's big, slow, and was like a +/- MINUS 23 this season!

I think Zanon actually stepped up his game quite a bit in the playoffs...

Seeing a lineup like that up front would be great, but if we were somehow able to resign Kariya, Forsberg, AND Hartnell I doubt we'd be able to keep Timonen, much less upgrade our D by adding a good FA.

I feel that our top two lines of Sully, Arnott, and Dumont and Rads, Legwand, and Erat should be enough to score enough goals to win almost every night.

I also agree that we need to upgrade our grinding line. Bringing Hartnell back, and pairing him with Nichol and then signing another similar player should provide the edge and a bit of scoring that our third line needs.

I'm all for picking up a player like Boynton, don't really know wht we have to offer Phoenix for him though.
I'm hoping we deal Zidlicky this summer, he had an off year and we have better options on the powerplay now-Weber scored 18 goals correct? and Suter came into his own this year. I think Zids is expendable and has very nice value.

We don't need Nichol, he is a penalty waiting to happen, plus we need larger guys in that role, guys like Wayne Primeau.

Agreed. I never want to see Nichol in a Predators uniform again. His spear was disgusting and cost us game 5.

Afinogenov...

Don't know how you guys feel about Max...but he got benched for tonight's game
I love Max (affectionately known as 'Afini') - and if the blades/Ruff don't like him so much, I'd love him in a Preds uniform...one of the other posters on our board was like, "If Ruff benches Max tonight, then Regier might as well just let him go, cause' he'll (Afini) be lost (mentally)...
Hmmm...

Why did he get benched? Personally, I'd love to see him in Nashville - would be a great replacement for Kariya

Preds need in order:

1) New PP coach
2) #1 Center
3) #1 goal scoring wing
4) Veteran defensemen at the $4 million dollar range not the $6 million dollar range
5) An open spot where Scott Nichol's name was. Two too many brain farts
6) Center depth where Fiddler and Smithson are not an option
7) An arbitraitor who doesn't break the bank on Fiddler/Hordichuk/Klein contracts.
8) Greg Zanon

The Preds have $20.5 million dollars to spend on 10 roster players before the self-imposed cap and the RFAs. Last year the Preds had 4.1 million dollars under the cap. With the increased ticket sales and the price hike they should counter the rise of the salary cap and keep the same cap.

uuummm ... the Preds are already sitting at 28,096,340 ... that gives us less than 17 million to work with in a) signing a #1 defensive defenseman b) signing Hartnell & c) signing a better bottom 6 ... http://hfboards.com/showpost.php?p=9019702&postcount=43

Agree with you on every poinyexcept one-I dont think we need a #1 center. Legwand broke out this year, I think we do need to get that #1 GOAL SCORING wing to play with him and Erat. I think a bigger need is a good center to play behind Legwand and Arnott, ala Belanger...

Our self imposed cap is around $37-39 million right? We'll probably have less money then everyone thinks.

I agree with Stranger's thoughts here. Unless Leipold is ready to really up the ante we are around a cap of 40 mil, which leaves around 13 mil in room only. And three major UFAs to sign? We will almost certainly have to let one walk, even if they really want to maintain consistency.
This points to a Zids trade, since Klein is WAY cheaper and could fill that spot. I fear D is where the team ends up standing pat, in that case, UNLESS there is a quality reliable big stay at home guy who is sold on coming here already.

I'd like to see Zidlicky moved for a pick or two, a 1st rounder isnt out of the question imo. Who do you think would have any interest? Edmonton is the first team that comes to mind.

try the devils ... I could care less what we get back personnel wise ... but I'd much rather have a pick than a warm body ... more money to try and sign Scott Hannan & Hartnell & retool our bottom 6

Ok, I'm using NHLnumbers as my source for this. I'll add up the numbers one by one:

Arnott 4.5 Million
Sullivan 3.2 Million
Dumont 2.5 Million
Legwand 2.1 Million
Erat 1.75 Million
Radulov .689 Million
Tootoo .700 Million
Zidlicky 3.2 Million
Hamhuis 1.75 Million
Suter .942 Million
Weber .475 Million
Vokoun 5.3 Million
Mason 1.25 Million

Total 28,365,000 Million
Salary Cap 48.9 Million
Equals 20,535,000

Ticket sales are up and the ticket prices are up. I think this cancels out the salary cap hike. I think the team will have the same buffer as they did last year. 4.1 million.

I saw it quoted a couple of times on Sporting news articles and ESPN. I'll try and find the link and post it. Nothing solid as of yet on Wikipedia.

Ok, checked a few places and there is a scatering of rumors on what the salary cap will be set. USA today says 48 Million, TSN says 46-47.5 , ESPN says nothing because they are too busy with the RIGGEDCAR and the National Convict Association. I STILL can't find where 48.9 came from but I SWEAR I saw it on TSN. Anyone else see this information?

you need to upgrade on the coach! you guys had possibly the best team in the whole league 3/4 of the season, but in the last quarter when you guys had a chance to face the flames in the opening round, you choked! so you end up facing a san jose team in which you have always had trouble playing against. off with trotz's head, this team needs a new voice.

I think everything I've seen about the Salary Cap going up has been speculation about the actual number.
