Trust me, I agree with you. I'm just using it as a comparable situation. Not saying it's right or wrong, just that it's not without precedent.

Alright, yeah, I understand.

I mean if Lundqvist had a stellar first-half, but a crappy 2nd half, and the Rangers sneaked into the 6th spot, would it be different?

I think it would.

This is just semantics anyway, as Brodeur or Luongo will win it anyway.

Nobody remembers...

what you did in October and November...it's all in how you finish. There may be a bit of merit to it too. How does the saying go? You're only as good as your last shot.

Sicilian - if Henke poured it on in December like he did in the last 1/3 or so of the season then he'd be in the top 3 in every category - games played, GAA, save %, and there may not be much of a question.

I do think Luongo will get it in the end, Brodeur second.

Great news... Henke's ONLY flaw is going down a bit too early and getting beat high because of it... If he eliminates most of this flaw, he wins it next year.

I saw a statistic that 70% of all goals are scored along the ice. So you can't blame him for going by the numbers.

Wow! Nearly all goalies butterfly these days, so 70% GOALS is still a very high figure.

When butterfly goalies get beat up high people love to complain that they go down too fast, but the only reason they go down so fast is because they don't see the puck clearly. When you don't see the puck you have to play the percentages, you need to play that 70%.

Its easy to complain about the high shots, but you need to give them up in order to secure all the low shots. Most of the pucks a goalie never sees clearly. Alot of the time goaltending is just about reading the play, positioning and playing the percentages (ie butterfly).

Thats why those high point shots are so effin dangerous (read: Detroit), because if you put a man in front to obscure vision, the goalie will most probably play the percentages and go down, and a high shot will beat him every time.

There are exceptions though, like the penalty shot where people will pull off the high shots with ease and that 70% goes out the window.

Nice stat

I find it extremely interesting that Brodeur was not a finalist in the MVP Award voted on by the players.

Waw! Hail to the King!

I thought he will never get the nomination because of the first part of the season, I'm really surprised he got it and I think it's well deserved.

He keeps getting these Vezina nominations on a yearly basis, he'll get one sooner or later.

Congrats, he has overcome a very poor playoffs last season and appears to be rounding into Olympic/Regular Season form in this year's playoffs. The Miller/Lundqvist rivalry looks like it will continue well beyond this series, regardless of the result.

That's very good for both fan-bases.

From a Sabres fan, I have to say that Lundqvist was awesome tonight. That should have been a 4-1 Buffalo win, but Lundvist nearly stole you the game.

That's some goaltender you have there.

Anyone who still doubts Lundqvist must see a taping of Game 5, simply godly goaltending.

Errr, I'd actually rather burn all known copies of the tape. But, hey, maybe that's just me.

Henrik's got multiple Cups in him; I'm telling you all right now.

That game was great right until 7.7 seconds to the end.

I'm a huge Richter fan, and I think Lundqvist most definitely has it in him to outdo Richter, Cups won included. I'm just glad it didn't take that long to find Richter a worthy heir.

I guess there's something about #35

I've gotta admit -- I haven't seen as much of him as I should, but if his play in this series is any indication... Wow. My hat is off to the guy. He definitely deserves the nomination.

Miller has played a great series, but damn if Lundqvist hasn't stolen the show, IMO.
