Weber got 5 + a game misconduct against Germany. Definately an enormous hit, though against the head and his ellbow came up a bit as well.
It seems like every year the Canadian players are surprised that there is actually a penalty for hitting someone's head in international competition
It was a great hit, but too bad it was a blow to the head. Three games seems to be very high, the hit happened in the second minute of the game so it is now a four game suspension?
on this tournament players play for FREE.
they are not payed for it. they risk their health and career. and if someone has intent to hurt another player he should be excluded from tournament.

I agree with you......however, if you are insinuatingthat what Weber did was on purpose and that he had "intent to injure" then you are just plain wrong.
There was no "malice aforethought." He's just not that kind of player.
not that I can recall. just hearing about this hit has brought all the "we've got to eliminate head shots" people out of the woodwork.
If you want to eliminate head shots tell people to keep their head up.
oh and yes this was a penalty.
watch video again...
his head was pretty up. he avoid off check and webber knew he can't stop him.
so i suppose there was another purpose of this elbow than stoping player.
no brainer...
I dont know fellas, when I look at the clip, it looks like a pretty brutal hit to me.
Shea is a monster and has quite the size advantage so he probably would have needed to duck down to make the hit legal, but regardless he crushed that guy in the head with his elbow and you just cant do that.
I dont think it was intent to injure, but it was unfortunate and ugly.
First of all let me say that Shea is my favorite player, and I have had a number of occasions to talk to him off the ice. He is one of the nicest, humblest athletes that you would ever care to meet.
That being said, that was one of the most vicious elbows to the head that I have ever seen. Even though it appears blatant, it is hard for me to believe that he intended to injure Seidenburg.
Shea, you just can't do that crap.
If this was the NHL, he would have gotten 5-10 games, and Canada should feel fortunate that it is only 3.
I hope Weber manned up and apologized to Seidenburg as I have not seen anything to that effect in print yet.

Hörnquist with another goal today. The guy have been one of the best players on the swedish team so far. He is such a gritty player, really nice pick by Nashville from what i can tell.
I like what I've read about Hornqvist. Perhaps we can get him to come over for training camp....
according to that thread about him earlier, a swedish poster said that not only does he not want to come to NA this year, he won't be willing to do so until he knows he won't be playing in the minors.
Of course...we could attempt to reason with him, but early on, that's not the sort of thing you want to hear from a prospect.

Darzins has been playing really well for Latvia. In the loss to Italy, he was clearly the MVP of the game for Latvia, scoring three goals, one of which was unallowed and having 7 shots on goal. He was also the lone Latvian scorer in the first game vs Swiss. He has finally put up some weight. I hope he gets another chance with Nashville despite the vague showing during the present season in Finland and Slovakia.

He wan't to develop another year in the SEL, before coming over, he stated, just like Bäckström did.
