Just like I've been saying ... it was done a while back, it was a matter of him being free to actually sign it.
Blues extend Kekalainen
The club announced in late February that it was close to a three-year contract extension with assistant general manager Jarmo Kekalainen, and that deal was completed recently. "Jarmo was in no rush," Davidson said. "We had to iron out small details. He's our property for three years."
Kekalainen, who oversees the Blues' amateur scouting and the NHL entry draft, said Friday: "It's a great opportunity to continue what we've been doing."
Kekalainen would one day like to be a GM in the NHL but said he's still paying his dues.
"I am a believer that if you do the job well enough, that opportunity will present itself," he said. "I'm not the type to send my résumé to every opportunity that's available. I'm not at all worried about it. I'm really happy working with JD and Larry (Pleau)."
