With the 3rd overall pick in 2007 NHL Entry draft Phoenix Coyotes are proud to select from -18 USA developement team James VanRiemsdyk.

It's been a hard choice between him and Voracek but i think VanRiemsdyk is more of a fit for Mueller. Alzner was considered but we are already good at defence with Jovanovski who signed a long term contract and Ballard and Michalek are young.

Good pick. It's hard to pass on a guy with that many tools!

Yeah VanRiemsdyl is pretty good, but Voracek is probably the best player in the draft IMO. I just think VanRiemsdyk will be a better fit.

Agreed. JVR is also a very safe pick.

*I’m obviously kidding guys…check my post record…I don’t tease much.
Cause this is an hockey forum...my girlfriend probably find it a bit ridiculous to make a mock draft.

I'm pretty sure you would not get ripped apart on a dungeaon dragon forum for playing dungeon dragon...

(I know you were kidding, still, your kidding got its answer )

With the 4th pick in the 2007 NHL entry draft the Los Angeles Kings select Jakub Voracek. Voracek will add an all around player to our lineup and mesh well with Michael Cammalleri and Anze Kopitar.

With the fifth overall pick, the Washington Capitals are proud to select, from the London Knights, Sam Gagner

We feel that Gagner is an impressive playmaking center who will fit perfectly between our young snipers, giving us an promising 2nd powerplay unit in the process.

Edmonton is now on the clock.

Can't say I didn't think about him. I was really hoping he'll go before my pick to spare me the headache.

Overall though, I just see Gagner as a better fit.

Funny, I though they already had Backstrom to do exactly that...

If I drafted Cherepanov to score goals, you could have said that they already have five players to do that, they only have one Bäckström though.

And in the words of Wade Belak, two is better than one But ideally, I would have traded down a bit for this pick.

This decision comes down to whether the team should draft the BPA or draft positionally where they need the most help. In the end they go for the best pure offensive player in the draft. From Omsk, the Edmonton Oilers select Alexei Cherapanov.

Columbus selects from the Calgray hitmen defensemen Karl Alzner.

We felt Karl is the right fit hes a big rugged skilled d-man.We need more help on d with Foote getting older there not anyone is our system who can come on d and make an impact we hope that will happen for Karl.

You can explain your choice a little bit like the others...

via a PM from Chiram,

The Boston Bruins are pleased and proud to select with the 8th overall pick, from the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League..defenseman Keaton Ellerby.

Hopefully he'll give the reason later on today.

Thanks Habsfan18, here's my reason...

***"We're very happy to have Ellerby in our ranks now, to bolster our blueline on the prospect side. He's exactly the kind of defenseman we like, and with him, Chara, Mark Stuart, Lashoff and Alberts, opposing forwards will have to keep their heads up when they enter our zone in the future."

MarkovForNorris is on the clock for St-Louis.

With the 9th overall selection in the 2007 NHL Draft, the St. Louis Blues organization is proud to select, from the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League, forward Logan Couture

At this point, it just feels to the Blues scouting staff as though Couture is the BPA... St. Louis does have a strong crop of forwards, but they couldn't afford to pass up on Couture because of his potential to be a very solid all-around player at the NHL level.

C-Saku Koivu MTL (Florida Panthers) is OTC.
