If the Preds want to pay him 5 million a year, you can have him. There's no way the Sharks will match that. He's not worth that much to the Sharks.

He might be worth that much for the Preds...who knows.

That's our attitude toward Timonen. Someone will pay him that, just not us.

Is Timonen looking for that kind of cash? 5 mil a year?

I know some Sharks fans are interested in him, but not for that much.

Well considering that Rafalski will easily get 4, and Timonen is not only a better offensive d-man than Rafalski, he's also better defensively...it wouldn't surprise me.

He's the class of the UFA defensive market, this year.

Would you guys be interested in bringing Brad Stuart back?

You really think Timonen is better defensively than Rafalski? I won't argue that Timonen is better offensively. Granted, I haven't had the chance to watch Rafalski that much lately. I didn't watch any of the Devils playoff games.

From what I understand, Timonen wants to stay in Nashville though.

As a Sharks fan, I'd love to get Brad Stuart back....if we lose Hannan to free agency.

Timonen was a primary penalty killer on the third ranked PK in the league. There's a common misconception that he's one dimensional, an Ozolinsh type...when in fact his defense is underrated. He's not a "shut down" guy, but he's a heady player positionally and good with his stick. Reads the play well, blocks shots well, intercepts passes well, turns the puck back the other way well.

I wouldn't want Brad Stuart back. He didn't succeed with the heavy expectations as a top draft pick in San Jose, and the Sharks need someone with an accurate point shot. Stuart couldn't hit the side of a barn from the point, at least from what I've seen from him this year.

I found it very interesting Brian Burke's comments regarding the Pronger hit/suspension.

Of course, he said that he disagreed with the suspension, but will respect Colin Campbell and the league's decision.

What was really interesting was his comments about Detroit....
He gave them props for putting Holmstrom back out on the ice after he was sutured up and found that there was no concussion present.
He said that it was the "honorable thing to do, and what they would have done." He went on to say that "there are other teams in the league who would have put him in an ambulance and put him in the hospital overnight, then returned him to the ice for the next game."

Hmmm....I wonder who he was refering too.....

There's one thing the Detriot franchise is above all else: classy. Their fans may not always be, but the organization is almost always that way. When juxtaposed with the Sharks, or even our own at times, it's quite striking how they carry themselves.
