Blues are in a tricky spot. The top 8 picks seem clear so their number nine pick is just outside the first tier talent level.

Looks like the 24 and 26 picks are just outside the second level of talent.

I thought keeping all three picks was the way to go but maybe they need to either move up or move down.

Or start trading for 1st-round picks in '09.

That might be okay with me, but we'd have to pick up some extra picks along the way.

In 9 picks, SOME team is bound to make a reach, and The Blues will pick in the 2nd tier of players (which is not so far away in talent from Tier 1, in this draft).

But, they certainly have enough extra choices to give up a 3rd rounder to move up one, or a 2nd rounder to move up 3-4 spots.

They could also take advantage of some team's hots for a given player and move down to pick up extra high-round choices in this, and/or next year's draft.

I'm not too worried about The Blues getting a "bad luck" minimum out of their choices. JD is too sharp for that.

I agree I am not too worried about the bad luck minimum...but I don't want to use the #9 to move up...would much rather see a rooster player go or even the two other #1's...but we need the #9 talent...
