We've got an excellent lineup in store for you this week, headlined by former NHLer Thomas Steen (Winnipeg Jets), Senators beat writer Bruce Garrioch (Ottawa Sun), Sabres beat writer Tim Graham (Buffalo News), and "Duck Calls" host Josh Brewster (HockeyTalk.biz).
Here's a closer look at this week's featured guests...
Thomas Steen, Winnipeg Jets: A native of Sweden, Thomas was one of the all-time most prolific members of the Winnipeg Jets, for whom he played from 1981 to 1995. In his career, he played 950 games, scoring 264 goals, with 553 assists. He is the father of the Maple Leafs' Alexander Steen, and together, they are the first Swedish father and son to have both scored goals in the NHL. Recently, Thomas appeared alongside Tory Leader Hugh McFadyen at a press conference during which McFadyen announced that he intends to bring the NHL back to Winnipeg by 2011. We'll catch up with Thomas about his days with the Jets, and also talk to him about the possibility of the NHL returning to his adopted hometown.
Bruce Garrioch, Ottawa Sun: Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun calls in to analyze what the Senators did right in Game 1 and also what they need to avoid in Game 2 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. Also, we’ll get Bruce’s take on what the difference is between this Senators team and the ones that dominated the regular season but choked in the playoffs. Bruce has covered the Ottawa Senators since their inception into the NHL back in 1992-93. What would a Stanley Cup mean to the Senators fans that have been there since Day 1? Is this the best team they’ve had in Ottawa?
Tim Graham, Buffalo News: Tim Graham of the Buffalo News joins us to discuss the Sabres, Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals and what Buffalo has to do to steal back home advantage in this series. Tim has covered the Sabres for the last six seasons, and before working for the Buffalo News, he worked at the Las Vegas Sun and covered the Las Vegas Thunder of the now-defunct IHL. Tim is also the President of the Boxing Writers Association. We’ll get his take on whether Ray Emery is the toughest goalie ever.
Josh Brewster, HockeyTalk.biz: Josh is the host of "Duck Calls," the Anaheim Ducks' postgame radio show after road games on AM830 (KLAA) in SoCal. Josh is also the producer of the groundbreaking web radio series, "Hockeytalk Audio Features," available for listening at HockeyTalk.biz. He also appears regularly on XM Satellite Radio, and his writing has been featured in The Hockey News and Hockey Digest. Josh will come on the show to help us take a closer look at the Anaheim Ducks, the first team to clinch a spot in the Conference Finals.
And of course, we'll go "Between the Pipes" with Brian Daccord of Superskills Hockey, "Make the Right Call" with former NHL referee Paul Stewart, go back in time with Mike Wyman's "The Golden Years" (this week featuring The New York Americans), and jump into "The Sin Bin" with PJ Stock.
