Tom Poti?

Granted it's Eklund, but he had this blurb about Poti today.

Quote:
Tom Poti rumors...The Penguins, La Kings, and Edmonton Oilers are interested. This will be a fun one to follow as well. Poti is one of the defensemen who has benefitted by the new NHL and reportedly turned down a major deal last year to sign long-term in Pittsburgh believeing his stock would go up if he signed a one year deal...He looks to have guessed right...

Eklund is pretty off base with that assumption.

I don't see them getting into a bidding war with the Pens.

How badly does LA need another defenseman now?

Current D-men:
Visnovsky
Blake
Johnson
Piskula
Harrold
Dallman
Miller (assuming he is re-signed)
Weaver (if he is re-signed)
Heward (another FA)
I'm pretty sure Modry is out.

I'd rather go after Giguere. The best D in the league won't make a difference without a good goalie.

Priessing is a better option then Poti.

Tom Poti??

Don't even think it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Potis sucks---He's a purse-carrying ***** who hates physical contact
and ALWAYS GETS OUTPLAYED in big, important, gritty games.

Poti sucks.

He really, really does.

Now, once and for all, wipe this notion from your brain, totally.

Ill assume the only game you watched him play this year was the Kings/Isles back in Oct/Nov. The only complaint anyone had about him this season, was his lack of shooting. He played 100x better on the island this year then he did in manhattan the previous season.

Totally agreed with the Sopel=Poti characterization, the fact that he was indeed better on the Island last season - and that the Kings do not need a defenceman of this type.

And whoever said Poti was a purse carrier... Bouillon has a long rap sheet and Poti more than holds his own.

And only because it's one of my favorite YouTube clips ever and it's about Tom Poti:

Agreed 100%. I've never liked Poti and my opinion hasn't changed. The guy is a powder puff and the idea is to get some grit.
I'm just glad this is coming from Eklund and not a local source.

Of course there are. No one has said he's the best available defenceman. There are also 27 or 28 other teams looking for help on D and more than 1 will make an offer for Tom Poti. He's a capable 2nd pairing pp2 guy. Scott Stevens he ain't, but in the new NHL, he'll have a job that pays a couple of million dollars.

Uh huh.

Cough!

Scott Hannan?

(Poti couldn't carry Hannan's athlete's foot fungus spores,
much less his jockstrap).

If you sign JS, then you can't sign both a D man and a Winger for Kopi. It's one or the other.

The Kings have enough cap space, especially if Cloutier spends the year in Manchester.

With the Kings main weakness being in net signing 30 year old Tom Poti could be a disastrous move. Makes absolutely no sense.
