A ton of movement in the order of picks. The Whl site doesn;t have transactions updated... anyone know what Edmonton's deal with Regina looked like?

Edmonton swapped 2nd rounders with the Pats but Oil Kings must have gotten something else. Just the 3rd rounder?

No players involved?

According to Regina's page,
"With their 2nd selection in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft, the Regina Pats traded 2nd round picks with the expansion Edmonton Oil Kings in order to select left winger Graham Hood with the 23rd overall pick. The Pats also sent their 3rd round pick, 57th overall, along with Expansion Considerations to the Oil Kings in the deal."

I love portlands draft so far, what do you guys think who are a little more in the know? I love the trade of the first overall pick, I really think moose jaw overpaid but we won't know that for years to come.

I think it's depressing their parents named their kids Wheaton and Sanfred.

Don't take it the wrong way, but are they of African descent?

Is Howden as good as his numbers, or was he up against lower level talent? I'm afraid of a guy who scored 120+ goals and stands 6'2"

Has anyone seen D Jay MCrath (Everett) or Patrick Coady (swift Current) play and has anything to say?

Your probably thinking of Inglis...

He's either of African descent or he's Native. Same skin color as Iginla who he's been compared to. With the name Inglis, I'd guess he has some African descent in him.

to Howden but I've wondered the same thing and I kinda think he had those big numbers because of the league he was in. Everyone had Inglis ranked higher then Howden and some scouts say Inglis could've played in the WHL this year. You may think I'm being biased since I'm a Blades fan but I think Inglis will turn out better then Howden but we shall see whose better once they're both playing regularily.

Tim Speltz here in Spokane told the local papers that any of the top 5-6 guys in the draft this season could have gone #1, but that Moffatt was the likely choice. So far, according to all accounts here, Moffatt should have been a sure-fire pick.

The package Howden puts together is much more intriguing than that of Inglis IMO. If he can put together 50% of those numbers in the WHL, with any kind of physical play he will be league MVP and possibly make Moose Jaw a Memorial Cup contender.

The problem I see with that is that I hadn't heard Howden's name until it was posted on this board right before the draft - may have something to do with my being so far away from Manitoba, but last year I knew Jared Cowen was going to be the top pick 6 weeks before the draft, whether it was to us or whoever we traded the pick to.

Maybe the class this year is just a little bit deeper?

Sanfred is a combination of his parents names, Sandra and Fred. And since they're from Brandon and probably Wheat Kings supporters, I would guess that would be the reason behind the name Wheaton.
