Yeah it is true that Zubrus really wants a 5 year deal and the caps wouldn't budge off of 4. If he continues to play well in the playoffs I would not be surprised that a team will give that to him if free agency.

Tru-dat! Especially now that I don't have to keep changing North London to Arsenal, Lombardia to AC Milan, etc, etc... That said, when I went to Italy for the first time last year, I knew that wine from Lombardia was Nortern Italian!

I knew about them already...but Getzlaf (damn you Mafki) and Penner out in Anaheim are awesome. The Ducks are set for years.

2k7 taught me that the best way to defend a breakaway was to haul them down from behind because the computer can't ever convert on a penalty shot.

Interesting. In NHL '07 I just slash everyone because I always have about 3X more SHGF than PPGA. I guess we're still a few years away from a truly realistic hockey sim...

I tend to have more SHG than any other team has goals in a season.

Anyways, yea, I'm a Sabre fan and wow...Zubrus has been a beast. He is probably the best player on the Sabres so far in the playoffs. He leveled Jagr and Avery tonight and has been hitting everything all playoffs long.

I'm hoping he might be willing to take less than 5 years, don't think it's reasonable, but I can hope.

I thought that Zubrus was letting out years of frustration on jagr in one moment. Also, Rags should have had too many men right before the Zubrus hit. I like it that was at the end of the shift and going to the bench then quickly decided he needed to send a message to Avery.

Mike Fisher has been a bit of a revelation for me.

He plays hard every shift, has an edge to his game, and can create scoring opportunities even while acting as a shutdown guy.

His game is at a level that Sutherby, Pettinger, Laich and Gordon all need to be at soon, in order for the Caps to succeed. As of now though, only Gordo and Petty look like they can get there, but they each need more edge to their game. Sutherby needs to get quicker, and Laich needs to get a little nastier.

In any event, his willingness to get his nose dirty last night was something we never saw here, even in the playoffs. Just imagine if, in Game 3 vs. Tampa Bay in the '03 playoffs, instead of trying to get back at Kubina's rough play with a stupid slash in the offensive zone in OT (which lead to the penalty that lead to LeCavalier's goal that got the Bolts back in the series), Jags had just taken the punishment -- we might have won the series and he might still be playing here and then we wouldn't have Ovy and oh, never mind . . .

Anyone notice how good Nylander has been in the playoffs. Kinda makes you wonder how Nylander and Jags would have played together with the Caps if Nylander didn't get hurt.

Really just sort of "tied the bow" on The Goocher's Cap career, eh?
