Bolts/Sabres Proposal

The Lightning has an ace top line, but most of their cap is used with 4 players, and have a severe lack of depth, especially on D. Buffalo lack a true bonafide superstar in their lineup, and havent really had one since Hasek left.

To Buffalo:

Vincent Lecavalier

To Tampa:

Ales Kotalik
Dimitri Kalinin
Maxim Afinogenov
1st 2008

Not sure whether this is an overpayment on Buffalos part, but Vinny is THE best centre in the game after Crosby (yes better than Joe). Works for both sides, Tampa gets a top 4 d-man on a reasonable contract, Afinogenov who would automatically jump to the top 2 lines on Tampa, and Kotalik who IMO, is good enough for the second line, all of them being on reasonably cheap contracts. Buffalo in return gets Lecavalier, who has already won a cup, is still very young, and isnt overpayed (especially compared to Richards).

sabres can't fit him in under the cap, I would do it if they could. No way Tampa does that though.

Make it a 2nd round pick and id take it personally. Opens space for paestch and stafford.

You gotta be kidding me!

Tampa hangs up the phone in a heartbeat after hearing this proposal. Lecavalier would instantly be the best player on an already stacked Buffalo team.

I think my proposal is best. Richards for Afinogenov, Spacek and a 1st and a 2nd.

Tampa gets a winger who will put up points in the 70s if not higher if he gets to play with Vincent. Adding Spacek gives more depth on the back end where we don't need more scoring defensemen and PP guys but TB could use a guy in tyhe top 4. They would also still have over half a million to sign another depth player.

The idea for Buffalo is letting Drury and Briere walk, thus having Richards and Connolly as the top two centres. In Buffalo's perspective maybe Roy gone and Zubrus kept as the third line centre also.

Buffalo turns down the deal. They will get hit hard in the off season with UFA and wont be in the position to let rostered players go 3 for 1

I wouldn't want Afinogenov. He reminds me too much of Fedotenko, faster but not as good of a shot. Way too streaky, like Feds.

Spacek is definitely an interesting part of the deal.

I would consider this only if both Drury and Briere sign elsewhere. Vinny and Vanek would be an AMAZING combination. Wow

Replace Spacek with Kalinin and I would jump at that.

Well even if Buffalo have interesting players to trade (unlike teams like Toronto ) I would never want to see Vinny be traded, it would take Miller, Drury and someone else and well..that won't happen from a sabres perspective, just pointing out that Vinny is Tampa and im sure Feaster wont trade him.

I'm conflicted. I'd love Vinny, but it has the potential to throw the Sabres' payroll out of whack.

The bolts are looking to make space, not just even it out for more depth.

Afino: 3.33 million
Kotalik: 2.33
Kalinin: 2.0 million

Thats 7.66 million, they are actually taking on salary at this point.

A more do-able trade would be:

To Buffalo: Vinny L (7.166)
To Tampa: Pomniville (1.03), Kotalik (2.33) or Connolly (2.9), Kalinin (2.0)

Buffalo is taking on 2.0 million or so, but getting hte best player back. Tampa gets a young sniper (34 goals) to play with Richards and free's up some space.

Jay Feaster has no interest in these 3 softies, especialyy not at the cost of Lecavalier or Richards.

Yeah, and he's good for at least 80 points.
