Mikus

What's up with this guy? As he signed? I heard he has to be sign if we don't want him to return in draft? He is an interesting prospect and had a good rookie year with the Sags. I know the Bulldogs are pretty well set up for next year but he deserve at least a place with the Cyclones.

yes, that's right. If he doesn't get signed by June 1st, 2007, he re-enter the draft

hopefully we sign him. He and Sergei are the two prospects who should definately be signed before June 1st. Perhaps Korpikari as well.

Juraj Mikus

2006-07 - Sagueneens QMJHL 60 gp - 29 G- 42 A- 71 PTS- 36 PIM

Scouting: a decent skater with an okay stride .. displays adequate top-end speed, but doesn't win skating races .. solid agility .. could upgrade on lower-body strength and balance .. possesses soft hands and smooth puckhandling skills .. an offensive forward who wants the puck .. very smooth and patient in puck-possession .. waits for plays to develop and then makes the right decision .. brings himself into scoring positions, but should develop a bigger variety of shots .. uses mostly his solid wrist or snap shot .. average defensive play .. needs to read the plays in his own zone better .. should mark his man faster and return to his own end with more determination .. prone to inconsistent showings .. doesn't drive the net hard and shows odd moments when he refuses to create and battle traffic .. should throw his body around more often and hit harder .. a right-shooting forward.

Looks like he needs a bit more seasoning in the juniors then in the AHL... a 'project' i dare say.

From Pat Hickey's column in Saturday's Gazette ...

They are also negotiating with Juraj Mikus, a right winger from Slovakia. He had 29 goals and 42 assists in 60 games with Chicoutimi this past season.

well, there is rumour that the Habs will sign him and send him back with Chicoutimi next year but some don't like that idea cause they will have both an euro and a 20 yo spot taken by one player

...yeah and Chicoutimi cant trade him because it would be the same situation with any other team.

Hmmm... (pensive look while stroking chin)... i think this guy is labeled AHL if no QJMHL team wants him.
