Tampa will be looking for a goalie very soon once again. Holmqvist is not the answer.

I'm not disagreeing, but in fairness, what legitimately available goalie would you say is "the answer".

Who said he is?

Anyway, good deal for Homer, good deal for Tampa, gives Ramo a year to get adjusted assuming something's done with Denis.

Holmqvist is a stopgap, but I think he has similar career potential of a Hedberg, long-term a top backup. But for now, he's in the right place and right situation.

edit: forgot to add, I think Holmqvist is a stopgap... for Ramo.

I would take a long look at getting Cory Schneider / Al Montoya if I were you.

I am sure that some sort of deal with Vancouver or NYR could be reached... but if the trade is really going to happen I would do it NOW before either of them get to the NHL and their trade value skyrockets.

In 2-3 years time you will likely have a no.1 goaltender for relatively cheap and for a very long time.

That's right...from among one of the guys Tampa has drafted already. Why do I see Montoya going to Tampa suggested so frequently when we have Ramo, Koschechkin & Helenius?

Holmqvist as a stopgap is the right way to put it.

Well lets see... Maybe Fernandez? If he is available and Tampa has enough cap room or Tampa should look at Montoya as a part of package for B.Richards.

The last thing the Lightning need is another goaltender prospect.

In fairness, many people could argue that Montoya is a superior prospect to Tampa top goalie prospects, therefore acquiring isn't a bad deal since you ultimately want the best goaltending possible. There nothing stopping Tampa from sending back a lesser goalie prospect if they were to make a deal like that.

Example Only...

To NYR:

Richards
Helenius

To Tampa:

Montoya
Whatever it takes to make it even....

That's if you think Montoya is better than Helenius (or the other 2). Certainly Montoya is closer to being ready which also adds to his value.

Not saying I'm endorsing the above...just throwing it out there.
