To MTL: Crosby
To TOR: Ovechkin
To PIT: Visnovsky
To WAS: Ryder, Kubina, TOR 3rd
To LOS: McCabe, MTL 2nd

Los Angeles makes a lateral move swapping Visnovsky for McCabe and thus picks up an all-important 2ND ROUND PICK essentially for free. Pittsburg trades from an area of strength (young centers) to an area of concern (all-star defensemen). Washington picks up a young goal scorer in Ryder and a great defenseman in Kubina, plus a 3RD ROUND PICK! Toronto and Montreal pick up some talented youngsters (albeit at a nearly-prohibitive high cost) and everyone wins!!!

I think its funny that even if the other teams gave that deal a go, it wouldn't happen because McCabe has a no move clause...

What about:

Petr Prucha, Al Montoya, Bobby Sanguinetti, Thomas Pock, 1st Rounder, 2 2nd Rounders for Kovalchuk

Rangers give up alot here IMO for a great player.
Thrashers get a 2nd liner (with ability to get better), Potential Franchise goalie, potential #1-2 dman, current 3-4 pairing guy that doesn't really fit in the rangers roster and a bunch of picks.

no thanks, visnovsky is a much better defender than McCabe and is much more gifted altogether offensivly, why give that up?

lets see, Kovalchuk is a perrenial 40 goal scorer. for him youre trading..

25-30 goal scorer
#1 goaltender, and one of the best young goalies not in the NHL.
potential #1 offensive defenseman
good depth defenseman
first rounder
and 2 2nd rounders?

I wouldnt do this deal if you had a gun in my mouth.

Maybe one of...but the Penguins are by far the best, followed by the Capitals. After that it's a tossup, but I'd still put St. Louis ahead at the very least.
