George McPhee....The Teflon GM. 15 years of failure and counting....
6 - Number of playoff series the Capitals have won since George McPhee took over as General Manager in 1997 (which makes him the third-longest-tenured GM in the League), three of which came in McPhee's first season on the job.
You should have heard Melrose just now on ESPN News. He said the Sens have exposed the Sabres, that they are skilled but to small and can't get to the net in the playoffs, that the roster needs to be reworked.
And then that person would be thinking "what the hell is this? Is that the logo for the soccer team?"
LMAO.....fair enough ahhh if DC fans cared as much at Pittsburgh fans do...since i moved up here ive seen 100x more stuff Pens related as in everyone even in the offseason is wearing Caps stuff, it makes me sad But i still wear my caps stuff with pride....and somehow got a job wearing my caps tshirt and hat to the interview
OT: funny enough the lady interviewing me kept looking at my hat and shirt throughout the interview like she was disgusted
DC fans will care as much as Pen fans once the Caps start winning .......... a mere two seasons ago, you couldn't find jack squat regarding the Pens in Pittsburgh.

Winning tends to fill up the bandwagon.
Not necessarily in a market where there is very little interest in the sport at all. Did soccer become any bigger in DC when the United went through their little dynasty in the mid-late 90s?
So exactly how bad is Fehr's back? Anyone have details on exactly what he did to it? This has been an issue for a few months now and I'm starting to worry.

No one knows. Based on the amount of time he's been completely shut down and the fact that he hasn't had surgery, I'm inclined to believe it's a slipped/herniated disc. That's incredibly painful but it could heal on its own completely. On the other hand, it could also be career threatening.
I saw on PennLive where Fehr is practicing now. Actually a fan in the Bears Fan Forum reported they had spoken to Eric sometime before the 18th, and Eric is optimistic about returning this year. The fan said he's skating well in practice, but not in game condition.

The way the Bears are playing there is no need for Fehr to rush back even if is getting close to being healed. Eric just need to do what he needs to do this off season to get that back dealt with whether it is rest and relaxation or physical therapy or surgery. I really liked what I saw in has last call up with the capitals.

Agreed. I would really like to see him play against Hamilton (Price) and see how he fairs against one of the better goalie prospects in the game, but its not worth risking further injury because this Bears team is really firing on all cylinders right now.
Agree, his long-term health (hockey and otherwise) is more important than his playing in the playoffs right now. And given how long he has been out, I would be shocked if he played in the playoffs this season. Not the same as being out with a broken bone, etc.
Based on what was said on the Caps Report, I would be surprised if they are even considering let him play this season. Sounds to me from the limited updates that he is skating to test out how he feels, not with the expectation of a return anytime soon.
Hopefully, they find out the root cause and it is not something that impacts his career long-term.
