Special Teams?

I thought our powerplay did pretty well last night. We had plenty of opportunities, but we just weren't able to capitalize. We did manage to cycle the puck pretty well and crash the net; the bounces just didn't go our way. The penalty kill looked pretty good out there. The Senators are just too good of a team to allow them to be on the powerplay. That shot by Redden from the point was just beautiful. That goal by Fisher was quite a flukey goal, however.

He didn't.

They showed it on CBC in super slow motion and Comrie's stick was blocked by the post and the blade never touched the puck.

Ah, I've not see it in slow-mo, but it looked like he did in real time. Still a strange goal.

The powerplay had some decent movement and cycling, but we had a lot of shots blocked. Sort of expected with Ottawa's shotblocking, but we need to work on that to have success.

The PK looked alright. The Fisher goal was a little odd. However, they still have some decent looks other than the 2 goals. So we could stand to improve the PK as well. Although we were great 5 on 3. In terms of what needs more improvement, I'd say the PK.

The PK looked gross. Even that 5-3 we were pretty lucky not to get scored on. It did however give us the momentum. We could feel a win at that point.

I'm especially impressed about the penalty kill 5 on 3, not only in game 1, but also in Detroit series. Really shifts the momentum when you can't score on those situations. Maybe the penalty kill is so good because they have been getting a lot of practice lately

Powerplay was also pretty good. Selänne particularly looked very impressive, creating many quality changes for his linemates and also for himself.

Agreed, but the PK defidently took a step in the wrong direction last night.
