When I read the thread title, all I can imagine is another St. Loius sports headline:

Cards sign Ozzie Canseco

im not really sure how he can play in nhl. if he plays, then he must play in 1-2 line and if not he is useless

Interesting signing. Was a star in regular season in FEL this season, but in playoffs, he literally got check off the game. Off-season, all in all, he was practically useless.

There's a bunch of better players available for the same amount of money. I wouldn't put any hopes on Martin Kariya.

I doubt that he'd work as a draw to Paul to sign with The Blues. Paul knows that Martin isn't good enough to play together with him in The NHL. He wouldn't want to come to a team with an offence weak enough to want to play Martin. And, furthermore, I don't see the point in clogging up the forward positions in Peoria, leaving less room for Blues' authentic NHL-bound prospects.

I think this was a "hey, ya never know... let's give it a shot" type of signing. I'm not sure they'd hesitate sending him to Alaska if he's not performing. I'm okay with playing the odds. The more guys we sign the more likely one of them will develop into something special, and if none of them do... a few dollars probably won't break Checketts and co.

Have mercy on me, Checker, but I'll take Jarmo's word on his home league. I don't like to see that kind of thing where guys disappear in the playoffs but that could just be a sign of inexperience. If the FEL is like the NHL, the post-season is a bit more violent.
