Quiet out of Thrashers' land as the deadline approaches to sign these prospects. Hopefully DW is burning the midnight oil and the fax machine is working properly.
I have a bad feeling that DW has his back against the wall with Pavelec. Ondrej can opt to not sign and return to this year's draft where he's a lock 1st rounder (and probable high 1st rounder at that). DW can't afford to lowball this guy or we'll lose him.
Fine, throw Tomas Pospisil's (or hey, if we're talking about Atlanta Spirit monies in general, Jim Slater's) under the bus and spend some of that money on Pavelec. I'll never forgive Pospisil for paying more attention to the TV in the Breakaway Grill showing the World Cup than focusing on his drills...while he was on the ice! (one can see the TV from the rink).
If the boy loves footy so much he can bloody well go home.
Will Pavelec refuse to sign so he can go back to the draft and not end up stuck behind Lehtonen? Could be a smart career choise for him, but bad for ATL. With the draft looking as weak as it does, Pavelec might go top 5 or even 1st OV in the draft.
"Looks like defenseman Chad Denny, goalie Ondrej Pavelec, forward Tomas Pospisil and possibly forward Myles Stoesz are done deals, and if my Swedish is correct Tobias Enstrom will be coming over from Sweden. I’ll firm up the details as I get concrete confirmation and terms from the team."
Think Stoesz starts in Gwinnett or in Chicago next year Holly? Like you, I thought he was a real longshot to be signed, but I can't really imagine him being AHL-ready off the bat from what I've seen/read/heard.
