Prospects that need to be signed by June 1

Chad Denny
Tobias Enstrom
Denis Loginov
Ondrej Pavelec
Tomas Pospisil
Myles Stoesz
Andrei Zubarev

Quiet out of Thrashers' land as the deadline approaches to sign these prospects. Hopefully DW is burning the midnight oil and the fax machine is working properly.

I have a bad feeling that DW has his back against the wall with Pavelec. Ondrej can opt to not sign and return to this year's draft where he's a lock 1st rounder (and probable high 1st rounder at that). DW can't afford to lowball this guy or we'll lose him.

Those who don't remember the Rob Zepp incident won't realize how truly important it is.

Due to the Russians not signing the IIHF agreement, there's no deadline on Zubarev and Loginov.

Fine, throw Tomas Pospisil's (or hey, if we're talking about Atlanta Spirit monies in general, Jim Slater's) under the bus and spend some of that money on Pavelec. I'll never forgive Pospisil for paying more attention to the TV in the Breakaway Grill showing the World Cup than focusing on his drills...while he was on the ice! (one can see the TV from the rink).

If the boy loves footy so much he can bloody well go home.

Sign Enstrom first, then Pavelec and Denny.

I guess we don't have a choice anymore, do we? They all have to be signed tomorrow.

Reason #2 why Waddell should be fired: He can't even sign the team's prospects.

Will Pavelec refuse to sign so he can go back to the draft and not end up stuck behind Lehtonen? Could be a smart career choise for him, but bad for ATL. With the draft looking as weak as it does, Pavelec might go top 5 or even 1st OV in the draft.

I may be mistaken, but I thought all rookie contracts were about the same $$$ under the new CBA - $750k - $850k.

According to the AJC's beat writer:

http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/sha...ers_signi.html

"Looks like defenseman Chad Denny, goalie Ondrej Pavelec, forward Tomas Pospisil and possibly forward Myles Stoesz are done deals, and if my Swedish is correct Tobias Enstrom will be coming over from Sweden. I’ll firm up the details as I get concrete confirmation and terms from the team."

Denny and Pavelec must be signed, I have no doubt DW will get it done.

Regarding Zepp. It was viewed as a disaster when it happened, but it turned out to be a good break considering how little he has progressed as a player.

I think you're thinking of the rookie cap. First-rounders are also guaranteed a certain amount just be virture of being taken in the first round, whether the spot was warranted or not.

Think Stoesz starts in Gwinnett or in Chicago next year Holly? Like you, I thought he was a real longshot to be signed, but I can't really imagine him being AHL-ready off the bat from what I've seen/read/heard.

Gwinnett for sure. No question. He needs to work on basics.

He wasn't one of these prospects, but does anyone know what Brett Sterling's cap hit will be if he's with the Thrashers next year?
