I can see the Hemsky comparison. The dangle is definitely there with Voracek.

Re: Esposito: the Turgeon comparison is made moreso for stylistic reasons, I'd assume.

I liked Vogel's line at the end: "hit refresh frequently"

Does these comparison include Hemsky's inability to shoot the puck?

Grrreeeeeat.

Trade the stupid pick. Either in a package for a proven player or to move up for Turris or Kane. The rest of these player do nothing for me.

I watched a lot of Voracek in the playoffs, and he isn't afraid to distribute, runs a powerplay and will shoot when the opportunity presents itself. This kid is being cast as a talent, with virtually no bust potential, by scouts.

I'm just not convinced he's still on the board at #5. If he is, by all means pick him.

I still say you gamble and take Cherepanov if Voracek is off the board.

If he isn't, then you have to make a decision. If Cherepanov has the higher ceiling, I think you go with that. While the Caps need a productive player with this pick, they're not in dire need where they can't take a bit of a risk for a guy with a higher potential. Does Cherepanov have a higher ceiling? I don't know honestly. That's McPhee and Mahoney to call.

I think more and more that the Caps might stick around in the Buffalo pick and take a flyer on a guy like Aliu

Voracek's upper body strength and unwillingness to shoot are his biggest drawbacks. But since he'll be playing with one of the Alexanders I don't mind the pass-first mentality. The Caps are in sore need of savvy playmakers and Voracek has that in spades.

If Voracek is gone then we need Gagner, Gagner could fill the 2nd line center hole for the future, he can. Cherepanov might not be able to fill the 2nd line RW spot.

Are there any good RW that would be avaible at 28.

I was under the impression he played a physical game?

Either way, he'd be perfect in DC.

Kane and Voracek are my #1 and #2 in this year's draft.

Akim Aliu
Brandon Sutter (plays C and RW)
Stefan Legein
Sergei Korostin
Dana Tyrell (CSS lists him as a C and RW as well)
...and perhaps Michal Repik, though he's likely to go earlier.

Voracek isn't really physical, but he doesn't shy away from traffic areas or play soft either.

Vorachek really seems like the right fit for the Caps.

I would even consider trading up to get him if needed.

I was just wondering cause if Voracek is gone and we take Gagner then we could get Akim Aliu from what i've heard is a gamble. I would be happy but not really happy if we got Gagner at 5 if Voracek wasn't there and then Sutter and 28.

The new site is up (though not currently re-directing from WashingtonCaps.com), complete with jersey contest details.

Well that was anti-climatic.
