Cup comes to OC, I move to LA

I just accepted a job offer in LA. So, I'm moving up there in a couple weeks. Other than a few years while at UCLA, I've lived in Orange County. I'm going to miss it here. However, it's a great career move (great job + huge raise). Plus, working in advertising, Los Angeles is the place to be.

I may be leaving my home behind, but I'm not leaving the Ducks behind. One of the first things I'm going to do when I get a chance is get tickets to every Ducks game at Staples. I'm also going to grab a few weekend games down at the Ponda. I'll be sure to flaunt my Ducks love everywhere I can.

Will I be alone as a LA area Ducks fan? Who else is in the area?

At least you'll still be relatively close. I'll be in Santa Cruz attending UCSC and I'm not going to to able to stand being so far away from my Ducks.

Any hockey fans there will likely be Sharks fans (it seems that every time I go up to that area, I see at least 2 SJ Sharks license plate frames) and I doubt I'll be able to go to any Ducks games (esp. playoff games) except maybe reg. season games over winter break. I'm hoping I'll get versus up there though for the playoffs and I'll have to start looking for regular season internet feeds.

Best wishes w/ your career though. I hope everything goes well, and be sure to harass the Kings fans at Staples. I think this presents a perfect opportunity for you to make new friends there.

I'm in the area, well, part of the time. Work in downtown but live in Irvine. The train has been great. Really worked out this playoff season since I could hop off at the Anaheim station and walk to the Honda Center for all those early games 5 and 6p games.

Yeah, I'm going to have to remember the train. Maybe I can make some big weeknight games.

I'm working on Wilshire right near Beverly Hills. I'm thinking Santa Monica area for a place. Luckily I have a friend that lives nearby that's going to let me stay at his place until I find a more permanent location. I'll take a few weeks to find the perfect place.

I live in LA-ish. County more like. But I'm going up north near Sacramento next year for college. Will make it a priority to attend any Sharks/Ducks games I can.
Good luck with your new job and remembering the train.

My apartment easily has the highest concentration of Duck fandom in all of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area (centered in Burbank). I live with no less than two other die hards and have gotten a lot of my co-workers on the bandwagon, sort of. There's not a lot of us here in LA but we're growing.

My entire family has become die hards (two of the three as extreme as me).

I think it is inevitable if you live with a die-hard. It just has to happen. There is so much hockey talk. Also, I somewhat reconverted two die-hards at school and in the process of many more concersions...

I don't post much on here. Lurk most of the time, but I'm in Brentwood/Westwood. Not many Ducks fans up here for all I can tell. I think my neighbor might be one since I think I saw him at one of the games in the bathroom, but I wasn't sure.

Ummm, no. I live 1 mile from my current job. I hate commuting so much. I enjoy having time to actually do stuff instead of spending 3 hours+ a day driving. I'm still young and single, so I can just get up an move.

yea traffic on the 10 is bad
i commute from LA to Santa Monica right now and when i leave my place at 9:30 it takes me 40 mins to get there and it's only a 15 mile drive
when there's traffic it can take 1.5 hours

That drive and going down the 405 during rush hour are probably the two worst drives on the whole planet. How so many cars fit into this little spot in the world is still beyond me.
