Jason Arnott/Yashin

If Nashville is in selling mode, slats might make a run at Arnott. He drafted him in Edm and he really likes the guy. At 4.5M per year, he might be a bit expensive. Could mesh well with Shanny and Avery though.

I know this is a very touchy subject but in today's "finance first" league, yashin, if he could be had at ~1.5 per on a one year contract COULD be a steal. He will rub it in to the NYI's!!! By saving $ on our #2 center it would give us the cash to for sure sign 2 major FA's (1d!!!! hopefully).

I wont be surprised if Sather goes the fiscally conservative route. Like last year with the UFA D men.

I wouldn't mind if he traded our pick to Nashville to be able to "talk" to #21

Yashin at 1.5 mil would be tempting perhaps. Another scenario where the Rangers could perhaps rejuvenate a talented players career while his old team continues to pay a significant part of his salary

I want Yashin as far away from this team as possible.

As far as Arnott, just because the Preds have told their UFAs that they will not be back does not mean they are dumping salary. They need to have players and they need to spend some money. Arnott seems like the kind of guy they would hold on to.

agreed 100%, plus if he were to get a max offer in the NHL of $1.5 million, he would be playing back in Russia next season for more than that

Good point. He's already said he would play for whoever offers him the most money.

That's hardly a reason to bring Yashin here.

You have to remeber that Nashville was a legitimate cup contender, and they still have a lot of young talent. I think they will be buyers this offseason, because with Vokoun in goal they could be a cup contender again.

well that is good news for everybody other than Montreal. I am not buying into anything until he signs an offer sheet with somebody other than the Blueshirts

The Rangers should have the money--no more Weekes, Ozo, Kaspar etc.--what they've been under the cap already and potential extra from the cap probably going up again--that they'll have better options than Yashin who is on the top ten list for most heartless players in the league--and has been the most overpaid for at least the last five seasons. I wouldn't want him anywhere near our team either.

They are officially NOT going to be buyers, because with ownership up in the air, the current owner is keeping salaries as low as possible. He has said they won't be re-signing any of their UFAs.

id take Arnott but depends on the cost. Yashin on the other hand, id rather have Lee Falardeau centre the 2ed line than Yashin.

Another reason not to have him here.

Good thing this guy has so much passion for the game - with statements like that you'd almost think he all about $

Do you know that Arnott is signed for 4 more seasons at a $4.5 million cap #?

The thing I don't understand is how during the season the only topic is getting youth in the lineup and during the offseason the only topic is the quickest way to get every single UFA and available player on our roster.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't take any of these proposals seriously unless the removal of players is discussed as well. Add 1 guy, subtract another. Add 2, subtract 2. In fact, we may need to subtract before we even add anyone.

a) No he won't,

b) If you signed Yashin, you'd never hear the end of it from Islander fans.

I thought Sather and Arnott had a really bad history and their bad blood was why he was moved from Edmonton in the first place?

I cannot see Sather wanting Arnott and I can't see Arnott wanting Sather.

I'd consider Arnott, but not Yashin.

Arnott/Legwand were actually the first names that came to mind when all this Nashville stuff broke.

If Arnott is available, I think we could get him, I always liked him, hes a gamer, lots of P/O experiance has won stanley Cups & he could help us in every aspect of the game, Face offs, PP, PK, passing to Shanny he could rack up 50+ assists & score @ least 25 goals.

Not sure how many years he has left, but. Id sure like him. Who would we give up?
