Although Marty didn't miss that many games, his knee was injured and he was not up to speed. The drain on his skating ability certainly took away much of his effectiveness.

Vokoun probably wont be traded according to this article here:

Predators will avoid trading frenzy

I would have rather had Hartnell.

I personally could deal with Vokoun being traded if we got a good young player that could play now and some high picks...but I know what the public perception would be, so I'd rather it not happen.

Agreed on both counts. The exclamation point was more in shock that we still are even considering dropping the money on Kariya.

This news is fascinating to me.

Kariya is all about playing on a competitive team, first and foremost.
By all accounts, inside and out, he has loved his time in Nashville.

If Poile, does in fact, sign Kariya......I would feel much better about the internal mindset of the remaining team and coaches....because you can bet that Kariya won't be signing back here if there are ANY signs of us raising proverbial the white flag.

In fact, if he does sign back...I wouldn't be surprised if it was a one year deal, so that he could again assess the "mindset and future" of the franchise next summer.....as will Legwand, Erat, JP Dumont, and Mason.

Does this make any sense for the Phoenix Coyotes to do? The Coyotes have been stated they are going with a full-out youth movement. So why would they trade their bestr prospect and a draft so high that it could end up being another solid first liner for a goalie, who will most likely not be on the roster any longer just when the Coyotes are ready to compete with the rest of the top teams?

Don't be offended, and Vokoun is worth a lot, but the Coyotes should have no interest in such an offer as what is stated above.

If the Coyotes acquire Vokoun, I do not expect them to give up anything significant for the future. If they do, I hope Maloney will be the shortest lived GM in NHL history.

you have got to be kidding me ... Crosby? Ovechkin? Sheesh ... the problem with TBL acquiring Vokoun is the same problem that Nashville has and the reason for making Vokoun available ... salary cap space. therefore, they can't give up much.

"Panthers took complete about-face and acquired Tomas Vokoun from Nashville for a first and two seconds. Will be announced in 45 minutes, but got it from great sources."
