Not much offensive upside here, but a real good defensive player.

Future 4th liner, IMO.

He better be physical because 56 points in 105 games in the Q is pitiful for a forward prospect.

If you read any comments in here you'd see that he is a more physical guy and a more defensive player.

At one time, McKeen's had him as a potential first round draft pick. Obviously the offensive side has been lacking. He's still young, let's see if he is a late bloomer.

83. Philadelphia Flyers (from Nashville Predators)
Who they'll take: David Skokan RW (Rimouski, QMJHL)
Height/Weight: 6'0, 191 lbs
Statline: 52 GP, 14-21-35, 62 PIM
Why they'll take him: The Flyers have a history of drafting skilled but underproducing wingers from the Q, and need one to produce.
Where his strengths lie: A crafty, explosive forward, Skokan can dangle through an entire team. His release puts the puck in once he's clear.
What he'll do in the NHL: Rough up teams both on the ice and on the scoreboard. 25-30 goals and an irritating presence from the second line.
When he'll be in the show: Three-four years
.
this is from Dobber's Mock Draft, they have him going 83rd, right before Casey Pierro-Zabotel and Ruslan Bashikrov (who went 80th and 60th respectively). More info about how he see's him panning out.

7th rd is GREAT value for Skokan.

I have always felt he was overrated, but there is no doubt that in rd 7 its a great pick...I felt he would be in rds 5/6...

Hes built like a tank, skates, but he has zero to no offensive upside..basically a role player, but he could be a top role player in the NHL because of his skating and strength.

I dont agree with that write up at all...his shot is below average, he had 13 goals this year playing big minutes and getting PP time and he spent half the year with Frolik...not sure how someone could expect him to score 30 goals in the NHL.

So I take it you would disagree with the assessment that he will chip in 25-30 goals?

100%...like I said, he had 13 this year playing on a line with Frolik...in Junior hockey...30 goals in one season is a massive stretch for Skokan at the pro level.

He has tunnel vision and an avg shot AT BEST...i dont see the offensive tools. He is a role player and the 7th rd it was good value.

16. David Skokan, C, Rimouski Oceanic
DOB: December 6th, 1988; Height: 6'0; Weight: 203 lbs.

Joining the Oceanic two seasons ago, Skokan spent his first season adjusting to the rigors of the QMJHL, scoring six goals and finishing with 21 points in 53 games. In his second year in North America, the Slovakian had a modest improvement on those numbers with 14 goals and 35 points in 52 games.

A talented player with the puck, Skokan is willing to play with a bit of a chip on his shoulder but at times lacks the goal-scorer's nose to bury the puck in the net or the creativity to make a play. Much more is expected from the forward, as the tools are all there, but the results are not.
