Lombardi, what about our own UFA and RFA?

Dean has about a week to sign Lundmark, Miller, and TK or they can walk. Cammy still doesn't have a contract and Visnovsky doesn't have an extension. So far, he has only bought out McCauley.

Brian Burke's team has only not been playing for a few weeks and he was already able to lock up Giguere, Huskins, and O'Donnell....

There are plenty of filler bottom sixers, but now with McCauley gone, the Kings need two centers unless Boyle is penciled in. If Miller walks, it makes DL look bad for getting nothing for him at the deadline and TK has been a great role player....

I've been puzzled all summer and continue to be.....What are they doing in the Kings front office....?

Qualifying Offers are due to the RFAs by 5:00 p.m. (eastern) this Monday...

I'm pretty sure Lundmark is an RFA...

Maybe the QOs have gone out and haven't been reported yet. In the past, they did send them out earlier than the deadline, but we didn't read about who was qualified for a few days after the deadline...

Cammalleri will be qualified by the Kings. He'll file for arbitration. A hearing date will be scheduled for August and the hearing date will serve as a hard deadline for the Kings and Cammalleri to come to an agreement to avoid the hearing and an arbitration award...

Lombardi commented that he was surprised in how little interest there was in Miller at the deadline. I don't think there's a sense of urgancy to get Miller signed at this point. I'm pretty much indifferent to them signing Miller. I wouldn't mind if they waited to see if they're going to get a UFA before doing Miller. If he gets a deal elsewhere, so be it...

I'd like to see TK return. Maybe he wants to try the market?

Visnovsky should be the #1 priority...

I forgot about Lundmark being a RFA. But my whole point is really investing in our own guys and showing that we want them long term, and DL hasn't done that yet with one player since he has been here....

DL has said he wants Jack Johnson sitting between Blake and Miller; well, that might not happen.

I was just hoping the Kings would show Visnovsky and Cammy the same kind of commitment the Ducks showed Giguere. We haven't done that with a player since Frolov and that was Dave Taylor.

I think they are taking it one step at a time. They got the draft over and now they will concetrate on UFA's. The RFA's/QA's always go into August so I am sure they will deal with that after the UFA's.

No offense, but your post makes it sound like Lombardi and crew are sitting around on their hands doing nothing. Just becuase we dont hear anything, doesnt mean these guys arn't working hard to get things done.

As much as I like Kostopolous and (tolerate) Miller, why in the world would you lock those two up when you can just wait a week to see if you can improve on them?

There ain't gonna be a long line outside of Miller's door come June 1st.

Boyle is nowhere near ready to play in the NHL.

imo, he was barely ready to play in the AHL.

if he's penciled in at center in the Kings' lineup, don't expect too much.

The Ducks just won the cup and still had time to draft, sign Giguere, sign O'Donnell and Huskins....

What have we done so far, bought out McCauley...?

Just because we haven't read anything, doesn't necessarily mean nothing has happened.

We don't know:

1. That they haven't spoken with the UFA guys...

2. That they haven't already sent out the QOs to the guys they're qualifying...

Also, as you've pointed out, the Ducks just won the CUP. Maybe Cup Champions have a somewhat easier time getting pending UFA players to sign than other clubs do???

actually, it seems pretty par for the course that the Ducks went out and were able to sign these guys quickly... if i remember correctly, Rutherford was "rewarding" players almost immediately after they won the cup.

i wonder if someone is willing to take a look back to see whether or not this is some sort of common pattern... seems to be.

Giuliano turned 28-yrs old on June 20th. The deadline for players to be 28-yrs old is June 30th of this year. Looks to be a Group 3 UFA by 10-days...

I'm backing it up with this:

NHLCBA 10.1.a.i.C

You've also got to consider that the Ducks may not have nearly as many concerns and needs as the Kings do. DL's to-do list is quite a bit longer than Burke's. The Ducks get to do little more than maintain the status-quo. The Kings' front office has alot more work to do.
