Looks like Jon Merrill cracked the Blue Jackets Roster. First '92 in the USHL. Congrats!

Wow, that's pretty young. Congrats to him. Hopefully that team will be a lot more competitive next season.

The Lincoln Stars have a kid named Tyler Brickler who made the squad and was born in 1991....youngest player on the team

There are roughly 15 91's on protected lists right now. Compared to last year, I think there were maybe 3 90's.

Being a 1992 and cracking a USHL lineup is quite the feat.

Why?

Kudos to big Jon. Anybody know why he chose that route vs the NTDP? He could have gone that way if he wanted, right?

I could be wrong but I think only '91s are eligible for the NTDP. Because the team consists of Ryan Bourque (91), Kyle Palmieri (91), Cam Fowler (91), etc.

He could still join the NTDP next year.

That said, hopefully he has a better development curve than the last 15 year old to play in the USHL... Tristan Llewellyn. He went from blue chip NHL prospect to undrafted.
