Gorges - I don't get it

Why is Gorges treated as if he doesn't exist for the most part on this board. Whenever our defense is discussed he's rarely mentioned. He seems like a decent prospect to me.

We can't have Bouillon, Dandenault AND Gorges. Too many not so good defensemen on one defense.

Well, he's the 7th dman of the team. If he plays well, he could replace Bouillon as 6th dman.

If we didn't have Dandouillon, he'd be a lock for the #6.. However, with them, I'm not sure is in the starting lineup.. which is horrible because he is better than both. He logged big minutes in San Jose..

When he played, he wasn't really good. Nobody expects him to become something great for us.

Gorges is not a prospect. He's a young veteran.

He only played 7 games with us, all under his usual ice time(12mins vs 19mins on average). We didn't see what he can do yet.

What can he bring to the habs ? we don't really know him so its hard to know how he could help us.

I heard from a cousin of the sister of the guy who married the mother of the guy who drives the Zamboni machine that Gorges is very neat and he always sweeps the floor orf the Habs dressing room before going home.

Unfortunately, I think you are right. If Gainey wants to sign Gorges, that must mean that Streit is going to be in the top 4.

Because they probably won't get rid of both Dandouillon. And then there's O'Byrne.

So Streit would have to play in the top 4 or up front.

Ugh.

I think people are under rating Gorges. I mean no one has even really seen him play, and you guys are already penciling him in as the automatic left behind. The games he played for the team are void, because its very hard for a player to get traded across the continent(a different country for that matter, a VERY different city) and adjust to a new style of play. Who knows what this season will bring for Josh Gorges. He was the captain of a Memorial cup winning team, so the potential Im sure, is there. Obviously, I cant predict the future, but I have one thing to say. Give the guy a chance.

Ugh is my feeling exactly, but it certainly seems to be the situation. I have to admit that I have never seen Gorgeous Gorges play, but it must be telling that he's an afterthought. Would he not be a reasonable and cheaper replacement for one head of the Dandouillon hydra if we can slay one of them?

He's not as effective as either of those guys. He'd need a big partner. And he's definitely third pairing. I'd rather have Streit on the 3rd with O'Byrne though if we were going to dump Dandouillon.

I don't know why Gainey doesn't just fork out $16 mil on three top notch puck movers. He had a chance last summer, now it's harder because there aren't as many D out there. He already signed Markov, thank god. And they have Komisarek.

Because, from what I saw of him last season, a 4 year old girl could have blown him over. If he hits the gym hard this summer and gets stronger on his skates he may become a good D - till then the bench is waiting for you Mr Gorges.

Until he proves otherwise, he's just a random throw-in in the Rivet trade. Huet was also written off until he proved himself to us.
