That's the perk of drafting off of the RSS list. People like what you've done.

the hawks had a good draft, drafting kane and Akim Aliu was such a steal.

Nice stuff Stuy. Regardless of what anyone has to say about our draft either positive or negative, can't deny we are loaded top to bottom. Got a few holes but that'll be addressed in the next few years or by FA.

Yeah good point. People usually form opinions of prospects abilities based off of CSS, ISS, HockeyNews and McKeens and hold a draft accountable the next day based off of those. Its easy to say "good draft" at this point when all we know are pre-draft rankings from hockey publications. You just hope for the Hawk's sake that those evaluations are close.

the 'hawks easily had the best draft, as a Leaf fan I didn't get to see my team pick until the 3rd, and I was hoping for some guys to drop but everytime I refreshed NHL.com, the 'hawks beat us to the punch.

the worst part for me is that Toronto will soon have the longest cup drought in the NHL...

Tallon said he got 5 players out of the Hawks' top 43 players so they're not exactly following the scouting lists to the letter.

Hahaha fair enough. I have seen a lot of people on the main boards making the same point and most of them seemed to be serious.

well snagging Kane, Sweatt, Aliu, Tanguay (all ranked in the top 50 by the hockey news) I'd say they did VERY good.

They should have taken Mayorov instead of Tanguay though.

We have soo many prospects from previous drafts (17 picks in 04) that we could afford to roll the dice on Aliu. Even if he doesn't pan out he won't be missed but, if he does .....

Who knows...They said it, we didn't...We are pretty satisfied though... Actually, if I saw Cherrypickerov & Espo fall like that, I might have tried to trade up....

Not saying Chicago had a bad draft but i hate when they rate how drafts go and the team that picks first gets credited for the guy they pick.

Yes but this year it was very open at the top. Phoenix were talking about trading up to #1 in order to pick Turris (before they realised who Chicago and Phily were picking). It's not like a draft where you can pick Crosby and there is no thought going into the pick.

Most people agree that Aliu had top-15 skill. If Chicago can get his head right he will be a good player.
