Renney's coming up. Gomez always sounds like a idiot.

I wanted to see a press conference, not just interviews...

just bad timing on MSG's part, this should have been as big of an off-season press conference as we've ever had.

Fans wanna see the players put on their team's sweater, not just interviews.

BIG-TIME DISAPPOINTED

Gomez kept smiling during his interview, while Drury seemed very stoic, trying to just answer the questions as evenly as possible.

Well the point is the Knicks suck...and anyone involved in the deals they have made over the past few years should receive corporal punishment.

I would think any kind of interview less than 24 hours after making a major decision like this would be difficult. Gomez does look goofy, though.

So much for Gomez allegedly hating Drury (I read that last night on one of these boards). They talked on the phone yesterday after Gomez was signed, but before Drury was signed. They both seemed excited that the Rangers were able to sign both.

Gomer looked like a kid in a candy store. I like the enthusiasm and the big ear-to-ear grin he's sporting.

Drury looked like he was a little tired or maybe overwhelmed (timid, maybe?)... but that could just be his demeanour with the media.

People make up rumors like that all the time to try and make themselves look "important" like they have some inside info. I'm not surprised they are friends especially since they do play somewhat close to each other.

Gomez looked very excited though which is always a good thing. I just hope he doesn't choke trying to justify the contract, which does happen but I have faith.

They just showed the puck flip, and both players were laughing, knocking each other in the shoulder.

Dellapina just said on SNY SportsNite that Shanny had been brioefed all day, and suggested that the NYR asked Shanny to take a bonus laden contract in order to fit Gomez, Drury, and presumably Lundy, Avery, & Prucha.

I used to work for the Avs from 99-01, and everytime I saw or ran into him, he seemed to be the quiet type...

Gomez seemed genuinely happy to be a NYR. Maybe I am guilty of reading too much into his comment when asked about the negotiations and him leaving NJ, but I took his saying it was business was a subtle rebuke of Lou's hardballing him all those years. It gets touchy when the player's dad is his rep, see Smith, knucklehead Checketts vs Mess & his dad. NJ couldn't match that offer, in fact they may have had trouble doing the
$5M again.

I thought Gomez comments about NY being the center of the hockey world was interesting. I see a player who felt he needed a change and a challenge and thought why not, NY is the big time, the big stage. I love that when a player understands the magnitude and the endless possibilities of playing on the largest stage in sports, playing for a NY team.

Drury reminds me very much of the player whose number he wears. Very calm, quite, a true pro who goes out and just wins. Clutch player. A huge addition. Drury I think is the key. Excellent on faceoffs, we strengthen an area there.

I hate the contracts, the money amount, but hey we didn't set the market, we kust paid the market price. With all the kids we have this is going to be a fun team to watch. These signings are not like to foolish mindless signings of the past. These were both made to fill huge voids. We got younger and better up the middle. Gomez, Drury, Cullen, Betts. Depth in Hartford at every position which is what you need to go deep in the playoffs.

Was that sheepish grin of Gomez his thinking about a parade down the Canyon of Heroes vs a ride around a parking lot?

I think it had more to do with what collar Ferrari he is going to buy.
