Kostopoulos is a replacement for Downy. Somebody's got to be a healthy scratch. Might as well be him over rookies. Seriously, some nights we're gonna need the extra muscle and I don't see Ferland stepping into that role.

Not a depth player! Noooooooooo!

Geez, I love the idiotic responses from some people around here. I read in another thread that this board is typical of the average fan response...

Habs defintely need a little more grit and muscle. Asham for the line would be nice IMO

I liked Kostopoulos, he was all hustle. Thought he was done in the NHL though. Good 4th liner. He's better than Begin, IMO.

From Kings' fans

- He's a player with an amazing attitude and work ethic. He's willing to go through a wall for a team and he has a pretty decent scoring touch for a grinder. Nice signing.

- Yeah TkO (as we called him here in LA) simply didn't fit into the team's plans this year, and alot of us are sad to see him go. As was stated, he's got huge heart and a hilarious sense of humor to boot.

- He's a great lockeroom guy, great at defense and he stands up for himself and his teammates (drops the gloves) i'll miss him in LA. i wish him all the best in Montreal.

Yeah, not only he is more productive, Kostopoulos seems to be a much better fighter than Murray. I can't recall seeing Murray knocking someone out like that.

If there's no trade coming, I see these lines for next season:

Ryder-Koivu-Kovalev
Higgins-Plekanec-Kostitsyn
Latendresse-Smolinski-Lapierre
Kostopoulos-Chipchura-Begin

Extra: Ferland/Lahti

awesome good signing consistent with the gainey mold... (future captain on the tsn scouting report), still young... i like it

http://dropyourgloves.com/Players/Pl...px?Player=2322

http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/...95&hubname=nhl

this guy is strong, had 10 fights in his last two years with the kings... my friend the kings fan tells me i'll like him... apparently he's a great forechecker and backchecker...

and this means i allready like him better than mike johnson.

We needed more players with a name that started in "Ko"..

Seeing as we lost Korneev and Korpikari.

Good move Bob.

OK, just how frustrated was Gainey and Carbo with the lack of effort last year with some players.
This is actually a big message.
This may have been even worse then we thought last year after the xmass break. Look this guy is not a star and never will be but somehow we all love Begin, he is a MOVE YOUR BUTTT PLAYER.

Do I read it right ??? 900K per season ???? OMG, I can't believe it. Let's pray he plays at Hamilton. I hope he won't take a spot from a young.

Garbage out... now garbage in.

Harmlik at $5.5M, then Smolinski and now this...

i wouldn't question his willingness but i don't think he wins too many... he's not a heavyweight so winning doesn't matter.... all he has to do is answer the bell and he's willing. he's getting a little older though so maybe he'll win some more

just like murray... but a better offensive and defensive player so far. a mixture of murray and schaffer.

How about:

Kobasew
Koivu (Mikko)
Kolnik
Kopecky
Kopitar
Kotalik
Kovalchuk
Kozlov (Viktor)
Kozlov (Slava)

'still a lot of work left for Bob to get all these...

As a Kings fan, I thought I would come over and see what was being said about TK. I know he is not a big UFA name.

The fact is TK is a GREAT team guy. He knows his role and he plays it well. He will stick up for teammates and he can energize a team.

He works every shift and his teammates and the fans like him. Everything he does all the time is for the team.

It is a very good signing. I wish the Kings had room.

How many kids do you want in the line-up? You look over the last 3 years, how many kids are in our line-up now, you will be amazed. Over the last 3 years, off the top of my head...Ryder, Latendress, Higgins, Plekanec, Kost, Komi, Lappy, Halak. You have to merge the young with the old a bit. As a bonus, he is only 25. He had some good years in the minors...racking up pretty much a point per game and more than 100 pim's. Everything I read on this guy, he is just a solid character player..a Mike Keane, Brian Skrudland, Travis Moen mold...you need those players in your line-up!

I like your forward lines. The 3/4 lines have some bangers on the wings. Lapierre/Begin/Chipchura can all be switched around, both from 3rd to 4th lines and vice versa....as well as from Wing to Centre and vice versa.

I'm thinking that Milroy might be a better reserve player than Ferland. Milroy didn't look out of place during his few games in the NHL last year and Ferland's lack of speed is a concern.

yes, 900k for someone that's been in the NHL for a few years, plays a mean forechecking game and can fight. Sounds about right to me.

Just the other day we were talking about how we didn't have anyone that would drop the gloves! Great signing, he sounds like a real character guy.

PS: if I hear the term "North-South player" one more time I'm going to snap.

lol! why? that's exactly what he is

Habs need to shed that "easy team to play against", guys like Kostopoulos, Bégin, Lapierre, Latendresse, Komisarek, maybe even Ferland, Chipchura and O'Byrne help in shedding that label
